I was married for 16 years now. Although I've married because my wife was pregnant and I felt like it was the right thing to do (basically because I cared and loved her) I'm still married and still love her. If I have to explain it why people get married, I don't know, each one will have his/her reasons. Who knows, maybe I'll divorce tomorrow, but at least I've lived the best 16 years of my life.

And btw, I know few people who is old and single, so maybe this is not statistically accurate. But of those I know, I don't know of a single one that doesn't regret his decision.

it's called a pre-nup (mine is iron clad). i'm not for or against marriage, do what you will. i love my girl, we're good friends, have fun with other couples, enjoy traveling and similar books/movies/adventures/snowboarding/biking/etc (ad nausem) and really that's all that matters to me. i got burnt out on being single/having short-term serial relationships around 5 years ago. i'm probably just getting old (37) :glugglug

seriously? i didn't have a problem. my more well off friends all have pre-nups (most not as thorough as mine though), the 9-5'ers, well, i'd agree, i don't think any do.

sort of. everything put in to the relationship is disclosed (disclosure is a big deal). so everyone knows exactly what the other has ahead of time. she owns what she owns, i own what i own. it looks into the future as well, for example if i sell my current home, and we buy a place together, it's all precentages. if she puts in 10% and i put in 90%, then whatever appreciation (if any) that occurs, will always be set at that leve of initial investment. we have separate bank accounts, credit cards, cars, everything pretty much. all written into the prenup. she keeps the ring, i keep my 911, she keeps the subaru i bought her, everyone knows how much everyone has, no one has any claim to future earnings if we were to break up, blah blah blah. in Canada it's 5 years for either party to try to contest the prenup, but the way we have it worked out, it would be incredibly difficult for either of us to (though i have most of the money, hence the prenup lol). my lawyer is thorough.

Of course, all this should have been settled beforehand in a behavioral "pre-nup", in a marriage contract. You don't want to agree to an open marriage? ok, we don't marry then. Believe me, Tiger would find candidates for an open marriage contract.

i am not for or against marriage. it works for some, not for others. whatever floats your boat but your idea that only social retards don't get married is very dumb. there are a lot of married social retards. it seems you try very hard to do what you feel society wants you to do to fit in, probably because in high school you didn't fit in at all, or something similar.

I never said marriage was the end all be all but I'd say 9 out of 10 people I talk to IRL and on these forums that aren't married, use the same logic and when I ask them the meaning of life, it's "fuck bitches make money". So yea, I don't have a high opinion of the single ones.
