And here are the votes from Germany:
CU soon... |
There are a surprising number of people suggesting Chicago. I doubt that it would be a good idea for me to try to put on a show in Chicago myself, but may be something for my North American collegues to consider...

I like Romania, but I don't think that Romania attracts a broad audience - yet. May be in 2-3 years... Would like to go to Cluj though soon. I heard it is beautiful and growing like crazy... |
Vancouver, obviously. consistently voted best place to live in the world. Plus we have had some great shows here in the past...

chicago might be cool during the summer

I love Barcelona but Prague and Bucharest sounds like a lot of fun and of course Tokyo:thumbsup for a Premium Summit would be very nice ....

It's better to have 1 show where maybe 800 people go to then 3 shows where 100 or 200 people come to. |
Quote:
Under 300 is not an option. If that happens I will stop doing shows. |

Maybe the other shows could be reffered to as local gatherings as a possible new niche that only a few people get into? Might have a nice local touch, I would have to agree. |

This is something we are currently considering to do inbetween Summits. To do a roadshow of smaller, local gatherings all throughout Europe. I will present this idea at the Summit to my sponsors. If I manage to get some (few) sponsors behind this concept and it makes economical sense for everybody involved (participants, sponsors and ourselves) than we will do it. Looking very much forward to welcoming you next week Jaques! Andreas |

@ all Would you mind if you had to come back to Barcelona end of the year for some more business and fun? |

I think trying to add more shows when everyone else is cutting back is not a great business strategy. Unless you are only trying to attract people from Europe.
Your timing is off, IMHO. |
Bucharest, Romania, would be a good city for such a summit.

i like the idea of Sitges of course.. anyhow, i'd say fix the main event in BCN at a regular time each year, and organise smaller gatherings around Europe, so that hardcore party people can jet in if they want to, and the locals get a chance to network and host visitors in their city.

For those of you, who might not know SITGES, this is it: http://www.virtourist.com/europe/sitges/01qtvr.htm A 25k beach town 40 minutes south of Barcelona. You like it? :) |

I was talking to the Webcams guys on doing a small gathering/show in a Scottish castle, something like that would be cool to attend. |

The good thing is: Nobody wants to go to Serbia. That is what I like about it as a private person. No annoying tourists, and locals still treat you with respect, as you are not tourist number one million of the day (like in Prague, where people are sick and tired of foreigners already). I love Belgrade. The bad thing: Nobody wants to go to Serbia. Which makes it difficult to put on a serious show there. Also bars and restaurants are far bejond standard (at least they were in 2009, when I visited Belgrade the last time). The party scene at all those discotheks at the river was amazing though... Definitely want to go back to Belgrade this year in the summer. The party scene rocks! :) |
Your best bet is to just "poll" the attendees of the Summit next week as we will be the ones most likely to be your core group ;)
|
Although I am newer to the business, I am wanting to get more involved and planning to attend a US show sometime in the summer. Since you're asking for input on where a show should be held, I'd like to give my two cents and recommend somewhere in the US or canada... but my 2 cents prob dont count for much here ;)

P.S.: Besides, there is still so much work and business to be done here in Europe, that we will be busy for a few years with that - In the end Europe is the largest Economy on this planet :) |

Amsterdam!
i dont think there will be another show in amsterdam this year webmasteraccess site is down and AOE site hasnt been updated since 2006 |

WMA often doesn't announce the amsterdam show until a couple of months before. However, judging by last year there is no way is wouldn't happen again, it was a great show despite the slow economy. |
Prague (there is enough to do and it's a nice city)
Ibiza (good to combine biz with good food, parties and good weather) Macau (never been there, know its the LV of Asia, maybe nice to experience it once) |
Prague! or Paris! COunt me in this time!

Prague seems like the most intelligent choice. I know very recently it was a great deal economically to travel to, and for Americans, it's the highest concentration of Americans outside of the US so there shouldn't be much of a language issue.
Then as was pointed out, Big Sister is there. There's a built in co-host. :) |
