Thanks for the link. How cool you can get all these paintings off Google. Never thought of that. The paintings of his boots.. shows ya there wasn't a hell of a lot to do for entertainment in what the 1600's. :) Get high and paint.

Wonder what was his drug of choice was in those days. Hashish? Mushrooms? Alcohol? None? Yeah right :) There are so many strokes in a typical painting. It's pretty amazing.

Mid to late nineteenth century.

Absinthe like most great artists of that and the proceeding period or 2 in Europe.

He also had a badass case of mental illness(anyone's guess which, probably schitzo, bipolar or something along those lines or combination therein) along with a possible case of syphilis(again, speculation).

Wasn't lithium also the poison du jour of that time?

Ok cool thx. That changes my perception of him.. mid to late 19th century was a great time and much more modern.

And aha "starry starry night, paint your palet blue and grey"

See ya learn sometning everyday.

Absinthe.. hmm have to look into that. Is that a hallucinagen? (try and spell that one at 1:am)

But in say 1875 there was a host of
legal drugs. Maybe a bit of opium.

Actually I think he was also on some serious hash. Burning up a storm all day every day.

Wiki: Absinthe is historically described as a distilled, highly alcoholic (45–74% ABV) beverage. It is an anise-flavoured spirit derived from herbs.

So the guy was an alchy. Fuck I want him to be a major fucking hash head. :) Way more cool.

Wiki: Lithium is used to treat the manic episodes of manic depression. Manic symptoms include hyperactivity, rushed speech, poor judgment, reduced need for sleep, aggression, and anger. It also helps to prevent or lessen the intensity of manic episodes.

Nah! never on shrooms I´m usually stoned and once I came in on LSD and for some reason I found it really funny for the first 20 minutes... then confusing...and even more confusing... then I left.

It was the colours the impressionists used. Chrome made it possible to have bright yellow. If you like this shit check out Renoir and Monet. If you are in NYC...go to MOMA and see Starry Night....I looked at it for two hours and had to be dragged out to check out Warhol's freeking soup cans.

Absinthe is made from wormwood. Although I have never tried it apparently it is not the same as the booze in your average liquor store.
