"i used to have to remove my battery every night as it would freeze and be useless too if I didn't bring it indoors and sit it near a heater."

So, you got caught stealing your neighbors battery and that's the defense you used? I can only assume.

Most of the rest though is designed to keep the black man out (cold weather, customs stripping down your car etc. etc.)

We've been trying with large food incentives to get the white fatties exported to the US to keep more blacks out, but so far that's failed. That's one of the biggest issues this session of Parliament. Get rid of fattie and the black man will surely follow.

In order to get any status recognition you need to have 2 parents or grandparents who are registered status indians. Otherwise you need to be able to prove your native ancestry.

Passing as a Metis person, DOES NOT EXEMPT YOU FROM TAXES. So I don't know what blue-eyes blonde indians you were talking to, but they were full of shit.

We also offer immigrants a beautiful tax exmeption period upon moving to Canada. What the fuck is that all about? I'm a citizen of the god damned country and I never got a taxfree year in my life. Why the fuck are they given a free pass to move here? If you want to live here, come and pay taxes like the rest of the country's born citizens.

Another shitstorm that irritates the living fuck out of me. Foreigners can come here, get a work visa, work for their minimum number of hours, get a layoff, and collect Canadian unemployment insurance that they have never paid into up until this point? GTFO, you're not a citizen, how the fuck are you collecting UI paid for by citizens?

Uhmm do you even realise that they are not Canadian...lol they have their own Nation. Go try and get BCHydro or a phone line or a cable line on a reservation see what it costs... I use to work in the telco industry and a common quote was 20k to 30k to install a line on a reservation. Thats why you see satelite dishes. They have their own government. They are also considered North American citizens and have the right to live in either the US or Canada.

all of the above is true bman. though i have to admit the natives have it better on the canada side of the border in terms of monies and services. i've lived and worked on reservations in both countries. unfortunately most reservations look really 3rd world. you will often see shiny brand new cars/trucks parked in front of a shack with no windows or doors. they have government money coming in and get all sorts of kickbacks yet they still struggle to get by. so they do scenes in between checks haha... but think about it, if u got a taxfree indian status card, a monthly percapita check just for being indian, casino earnings kickbacks, and huge government reparations settlements every few years (the latest big case check in canada was the settlement over how schoolteachers treated indians badly 30yrs ago... 100% of canadian status indians alive got paid big if they're still living today) man i'd be indefinitely set for life and want probably wait for the mailman to bring my check too. you're so right about prices being inflated on the reserves too. everything costs BIG money because so few vendors do business there.

Way back int he day I used to work as a swamper on a hydrovac truck. Our truck's territory was mostly situated in and around a northern alberta indian reservation. You could tell where the reservation boundaries started, because that's where the refrigerators and washing machines in the ditch start, and they continue down any road you follow until you leave the rez. Oh, and watch the fuck out for stray dogs and children, they are everywhere. They run out on the road like deer from the strangest places.

They don't drill water wells out there, they have giant freshwater tanks. Why? Because it is cheaper to truck them water for the lifespan of the house than it is to drill a well! The entire reservation looks like a post apocalyptic wasteland. Beautiful new houses, gutted, destroyed and left to weather.

I almost thought my driver was joking when he told me, then a while afterward I was rigging up to a tank just behind a yard on the rez mid afternoon. I see a school bus roll up on the road, and 4 little native kids come strolling off. At this point I usually stand around on the edge of the oil lease and smoke cigarettes for an hour or so trying not to fall asleep while the truck pumps, so I have a goof extended period to watch these kids. What do these little shits do?

They go into the backyard which was facing our worksite, so I can see everything they are doing. They start throwing rocks at the wall. Then they're beating it with sticks. Once they get some nice holes broke in the siding, they get their sticks underneath and start prying it up. Then they tag up on it and start ripping the fucking siding off the house. Brand new house getting just thrashed, and this is how 90% of the homes there look. It's fucking sickening.

Go hang out in Onion Lake, Hobema, Sunchild. Fucking ghhhhhhhetto. You better hope you don't run out of gas on the side of the road in the middle of the night. Your vehicle won't make morning without being a smashed heap of shit...

Obviously this isn't every reservation or every native person, but jesus fuck are there some bad ones. It reminds of way back I was sitting in a little northern oil town bar having some drinks and I'm talking with this old indian dude, real funny guy. He tells me this "You know, there's indians, and there's fucking indians, and there's a WHOOOOOOOLE LOT of fucking indians..." I just about shat myself laughing.

Actually fucking funniest thing ever I moved to West Coast BC from Saskatoon... I was there 1 year and having my kids robbed daily at knife point and my house broken into when I was in it we had enough...

Less than 1 month Im in BC my car is stolen... Amazingly recovered 3 days later in a neighbouring town... with a driver... Native... and he got off cause he said his friend gave him the car with the key. (valet key left in glove box even though window smashed in to steal the car.)

Cons: Canada is where all the fuckin cold air comes from.

moeloubani 03-06-2010 10:21 PM

lol i think a lot of americans think that every other country out there is skimping on something since they seem to always be out of money

in canada we have everything you do in the US, if we want to pay for medical care we can go to the US, or we can stay where we are and get it for free. taxes are pretty much the exact same as the US but people are way nicer, we are amazing at the winter olympics and our hockey is phenomenal

i love canada!!!!

Obviously you are wrong. All the cold comes down from Rooskie !

Sid70 03-07-2010 02:27 AM

Reading it about medicine, I didn't realize that canadians and americans play that pin-pong bad-good game as we do with rooskie here.

At least I guess you can assure me that they have beds in hospitals at all and while in treatment in the hospital patients get all they need as of medications, everyday meal ( that is ok to eat ) and all the other stuff like clean bathrooms and showers.

To compare to the US, i just can tell that a buddy of mine, being in a good shape, told me a story once, he scratched his leg and didnt care to clean the wound properly, so in 2 days he was in problem and spent 2 days in the hospital. USD 2,5k flat that was his bill. Can you relate any canadian experince?

quiet 03-07-2010 06:09 AM

sure. i broke my ankle hiking in the summer of '04. i was traveling back and forth between Vancouver to Montreal every other week for business. well, after the fracture, that triggered a pulmonary embolism, and i almost died. i was in Montreal at the time, and had to spend an entire month in the hospital. then after that, i was in a medical clinic once a week in Whistler for half a year for blood tests, and physio therapy. cost = zero. i can't imagine how much that would have cost in the states.

Sid70 03-07-2010 09:12 AM

Do Canadians pay anything extra ( except taxes ) for public schools ( study books, are they free also?)? How much is paying day care?

The cost still would have been zero, because once you saw the bill for spending a month in the hospital you'd have died of a heart attack.

Cons (of living in Montreal)
- I think Quebec has the highest personal income taxes in North America
- Weather is fucking shit in both summer and winter
- Roads are absolutely disgusting, forget about a sports car
- French canadians are terrible to live with

Pros
- Amazing nightlife
- Hottest girls aside from Las Vegas
- Non stop festivals, celebrations, social events

We have a public school system. You can also opt for private schools, which are usually Catholic or other religion-run. The schools are shifting more and more cost to the parents. Kids used to be sent home with a list for about $50 worth of books and pencils to show up with. Now they recommend the kids have laptops n shit. But school is still free. You can apply for subsidies if you're of low income levels.

For the same amount of money made in the US ($82,251 – $171,550) you are in a 28% Federal tax bracket and you will also pay from 0% - 10% in State taxes, depending on the state. So in the US you would be paying 28% - 38% in taxes depending on which state you live in.

So if I live in Florida and I make 150K, I pay 28% in taxes. If I lived in Manitoba with Sleazy I would be paying 46.40% in taxes.

Florida: $42,000 taxes
Manitoba: $69,600 taxes

For an extra $27,600 I think I would rather pay for my own health care which would be at most a couple thousand dollars a year.

What about sales taxes on average. Here in the US its about 9% .

Has little to do with it being a reservation. Run a new phone/electric/gas line to a new farmyard that's a ways away from existing lines and you'll get the exact same quotes.

Canada as compared to where? The US? Compared to the US, it's run by a bunch
of "left wing liberal democrats", which is either a pro or con, depending on what you like.
You get government run healthcare and all the other nanny state stuff you may love (or
hate). You no longer have a bunch evil conservative businessmen telling you the
country is founded on personal responsibility, self sufficiency, or personal freedom.
Are those pros or cons? I don't know, I guess it depends on you. Personally, I'd rather
pay $35 to see my doctor tomorrow rather than wait a month and pay $168 in taxes to
see the doctor "for free". But if you like the ideas put forth by Obabma, Pelosi, and
the like, I bet you'd LOVE Canada, from what my Canadian friends have told me. For
example, Canada does about twice as much "helping the poor" aka "taxing the people
who work" than the US does. That is to say, the term "welfare state" applies to
Canada about twice as much as it applies to the US. I'm actually quite surprised that
more of the people trying to turn the US into more of a welfare state, create a
Canadian style health system, etc. don't just go to Canada, where they already have
exactly what the liberals are trying to create. it seems like they'd love it there.

I understand it can be a bit tough to immigrate to Canada. It seems they want people who "will make a significant contribution to the cultural or athletic life of Canada", and
certain skilled workers. I wonder if maybe a trade could be arranged. The US will
take 200,000 of Canada's culturally deficient people who listen to crappy music while
working, if Canada will will take 200,000 of our poets, folk singers, and other culturally
wonderful people who will bring their own cans for you to put dollars in. We'll throw in a
few athletes too - we have plenty to spare. What do the Canadians on the board
think, could we work something out? Maybe start with my brother, a poet and
photographer who will make those cultural contributions you're looking for, in exchange
for hat damn capitalist Brad Gosse, who is messing up your country so bad by going
around making money and spending it, creating those damn jobs and getting people
off welfare. I'm sure you'd love to get rid of him, and we don't really need my brother
that much - we have enough drunk poets down here.

The whole Canadian immigration could sound overrated for people living in developed countries of EU. More, almost any EU based person don't need a visa to go to USA or Canada to visit, and need to make much less efforts to stay there longer then 90 days on opening a business purpose.

Comparing to that, people outside EU they need visas everywhere and that's why immigration - taking your gig to another level.

Say, here we pay $20-$50 to visit a doctor too. Free medicine can be used for very simple things but you'd have your day ruined after waiting and
seeing a doctor who never even say hi to you. Medicine, we pay for it, and we pay same EU prices because mostly it's imported. Bigger problem is if there is anyting serious that involves hospitals and procedures, that's hard to get in time and on a decent level for people who can't pay it.

Big problem is locally people need doctors sooner because of unstable government stealing their money and health.
