People only think I'm a democrat based on opposition to most of what todays republicans stand for. If they weren't so ridiculously out of touch, you might think I'm a republican.

Weekly is stupid by every definition of the word, don't mind him. He thinks our economic situation came about because of the Iraq War, and that the "people" voted in legislature. He's truly a moron.

If it was unconstitutional, don't you think those whippo redneck anti abortion republicans would have sunk it on constitutional grounds? Just thinking out loud.

Tom_PM 03-22-2010 11:02 AM

I'm sure there were people who said with their dying breath that medicare would ruin our country too. In the end, there's nothing we can do about it other than vote. So if this makes people get out and vote, then good for all of us.

I wouldn't start opening the bubbly quite yet.

Add to that a shit load of states are already preparing to stop it as well.

This was Obama's "swan song" and its too bad for him that no one will ever hear it sing. :2 cents:

The one good thing is that it has motivated people to "do something" again, and people are pissed off.

The Demon 03-22-2010 11:37 AM

I agree. It took a shitty president and political party for people to start caring about their country again.

How to fuck up a country. Paralyze government over technicalities. The majority have already spoken when they elected Obama. Some day you will tell your kids that you opposed this progressive legislation and they will think your nuts. It is inevitable. It brings America into the 21st century. Still a ways behind France and Canada, but catching up.

I was trying to write a nice response fillwed with flowery examples of how our current health care system has fucked people, but sometimes pictures are more effective than words:

Wake up- this shit is fucked.

You're paying for it, one way or another, you're paying for it. You can either pay into an insurance plan or you can wait until something bad happens to you or someone you love and then pay through the nose or declare bankruptcy.

Actually, your retarded logic only works when the election happened. It doesn't work as of today, yesterday, or tomorrow, otherwise known as the present. The people have spoken now, and you lose. Btw, Obama has a PHD in how to fuck up a country. Please continue typing, moron.

Actually do you have any idea of what that demon dude does or where he is from? He spends a lot of time spewing venom, but that doesn't make money.

BestXXXPorn 03-22-2010 12:38 PM

weekly I think you need to do some research on the principals in which this country were founded. It was setup to have MINIMAL federal government with the vast majority of power residing within the states' hands.

"The Tenth Amendment defines the total scope of federal power as being that which has been delegated by the people to the federal government, and also that which is absolutely necessary to advancing those powers specifically enumerated in the Constitution of the United States. The rest is to be handled by the state governments, or locally, by the people themselves."

"The Tenth Amendment was adopted after the Constitutional ratification process to emphasize the fact that the states remained individual and unique sovereignties; that they were empowered in areas that the Constitution did not delegate to the federal government. With this in mind, any federal attempt to legislate beyond the Constitutional limits of Congress’ authority is a usurpation of state sovereignty – and unconstitutional."

Those two blurbs were taken from http://www.tenthamendmentcenter.com/...alking-points/

The 10th Amendment is very, very important and you should also understand the spirit in which is was crafted by James Madison.

They GOP could not stop it from happening. The states on the other handle can challenge it and will probably win. Do you even know the history of the United States? I saw you said that you lived in Russia before.

The federal government can not bypass the Tenth Amendment or any other amendments. This will be fought in courts for years to come.

Or until the Dems lose the majority seats in November. As long as Pelosi gets fired though, I'm happy. She happens to be the dumbest politician I've ever heard of. Definitely makes Bush look like Einstein.

I think it's more of his logic is skewed. It's a common problem as of late where people place emotions and feelings above logic and reason. Emotionally I would say "HEALTHCARE FOR EVERYONE!"... and I would find every way to rationalize it. Logically I say, "That is not a power specifically enumerated to the federal government. They don't have that power and never should. James Madison was dead on."

I honestly don't think anyone who is pro obamacare (I use that as I'm pro healthcare reform, REAL reform, not this BS) reform has a firm grasp on the constitution or bill of rights. They just don't understand that while it is a good idea (cheaper healthcare for all and everyone covered) it's just not within the power of the federal government and more over, it shouldn't be.

Well...the federal government can and does...as the Supreme Court determines what laws that Congress enacts are constitutional or not. Over the years State rights have been slowly but surely infringed upon due to Congress and Supreme Court decisions. Thus the States may or may not win...what will ultimately be decided by the Supreme Court.

Well, liberals argue through emotion, not logic. This much is clear. But it's not just his logic lol. He thinks that we the people actually passed legislation, that the majority of people wanted the bill, and that the economy blew because of the Iraq War.

Nobody who is pro ObamaCare actually understands how this affects us negatively.

its more like anthony kennedy will decide. The liberal & conservative blocs are so predictable now, every divided decision rests in his judgement.

This was never meant to be effective right away. It doesn't do much until 2014 anyway. What it DOES do is give the Obama administration the ability to say they've passed historical legislation, which they have.

I believe the intent here all along was to pass it to be able to say they passed it and then worry about the fixes later. After the elections. Problem is I don't see Congress caring too much about going back and fixing this.
