The big headline in the LA times is about a gay Irish hurling star. This health care debate is over. I love it.

In fact, it's projection. He's putting exactly what he does on others and then is so oblivious to it he believes himself not only right, but superior. Sad and funny at the same time. Now to be fair, you're quite the gem yourself. You don't argue or debate rationally. The Iraq war bankrupting the country (or whatever statement it was)? I had to roll my eyes at that too. It's one thing to be anti-war, we all should, but c'mon. Much like ol' Demon you let your ideology get in the way of your reason. You're no less partisan. I would hope you both could do better. |

Come back. edit: Everyone is partisan. That has no impact on what is right and what is wrong. |

Bush II certainly didn't help anything, and by making sure he propped up the economy to put off the collapse as long as he could so it wouldn't happen on his watch he really added to the problem. Neither Bush nor Obama have handled the bailouts and the recovery well at all. They're cherry picking and playing favorites. Why do you think Goldman Sachs, AIG and other big banks were allowed to keep bonuses and call their own shots while GM was brought to their knees and forced to declare Chapter 11? GM actually MAKES something and employs a lot of people up and down the line. It's all a metric fuck ton of bullshit. As for the rest, I would MUCH rather spend money on health care than war. The war is a big lie, like most of them are. They lied about every fucking reason they invaded. I'm not pointing out your ideology in connection with the war. War is horrible and shouldn't be tolerated no matter what your politics. I'm referring to your blind backing of health care reform bills and president Obama. The sooner people realize Obama serves the same masters on Wall St. that Bush did and the bill is a way to placate the masses while fleecing the nation the sooner we can get to the real business at hand which should be throwing them all out on their asses and reforming our government from the bottom up. Obama is taking marching orders just like Bush did. The country was about to explode the way it was going for 8 years, so they get Obama in there and lull everyone to sleep for a bit longer. And not everyone is partisan. Some people are able to remain independent and support and vote on issues and candidates regardless of party affiliations. |

Do constituents always know whats best for there district. NO! if they did we wouldnt need government we could all just gather up in town halls and yell until 59% of us are left standing then we can do what those people say. Politicians are supposed to make hard decisions that maybe contrary to what the constituents think or know will better benefit their district as a WHOLE. Thats what they are paid to do. Then every 2 or 4 years we look at what they ACCOMPLISHED not what they talked or argued about and if you dont like the end result. Vote someone else in. You think FDR would have decided to join the war and save the world from the nazis if he listened to what 59% of Americans wanted? |

As for who Obama serves? It is way too early to judge. A year and a couple of months is not the character of the administration yet. This is the time to piss people off. The let the redneck whippos fire off their broadsides till the majority gets sick of their venom. There will be more swiftboating I am sure, but enough already. The last year of his administration is the time you will know how well this is all working. Its classic Sun Tsu. |

Oil = old technology, dinosaur (literally lol) We went to war with Iraq because of our dependency on OIL. The terrorist are funded from oil money, money from ALL of us. If it wasn't for oil, the richest people in the middle east would be living in a wooden shack opposed to a sand hunt. There would be 99% LESS money in the middle east if not for oil. That money makes it way back to terrorist and funds them to attack us. Does it make sense to send money to our enemies so they can have weapons and means to fight us, so we can inturn then spend more money to defend ourselves from them? A smarter solution is to attack them financially and take their means to hurt us away. Make oil worthless and the most harm the terrorist can do is throw rocks out our embassy. Make oil worthless by innovating and developing alternative sources of energy. Produce alternative sources of energy and sell to the rest of the world = fix economy, trade deficit, and make the dollar a lot stronger. A world with out oil = no middle east terrorist (save billions fighting and protecting ourselves from them) + make billions from new technology and alternative sources of energy we sell to the rest of the world. So why did Bush, who's family made money in the oil business and was heavily connected with oil decide to go the route he did oppose to the common sense I listed above ? If Bush would have spent those trillions on iraq into pushing hard for us to develop alternative sources of energy, the war would be over with because the terrorist would have no money to fight us. Bush fucked it up bad. But hey Clinton didn't exactly push hard for alternative sources of energy either. |
