Good point. Content is king. That said, it should be qualified as "the right type of content for the right type of audience is king". Playboy, for example, has really impeccable production values but its drawback has always been the fact that certain market segments find it "too slick". That's why Hustler filled a niche.

Same with online adult. Not every surfer is looking for gonzo nor is every surfer looking for reality type content. While production value is good, production value in the service of a well positioned and well executed targeted marketing strategy is probably what will make the difference.

IMO She's nice but nothing exceptional.

There are many reasons for the quality of models falling. But the main reason is most girls now know or believe that if they do porn or erotica they will end up on all the free sites and their family and friends will find out. This has led IMO to less and less girls new girls coming in and staying in the business. The problem is you can only shoot what turns up for castings.

The simple rule is the more attractive the girl and the better the quality of catching her action the better the sales. If you get average girls their performance and capture of it has to be above average to sell the same.

I wasn't talking about glam outselling next door...but hot girls outselling ugly girls. Next door girls can and have to be hot, too, to sell well.

For example Ellie at dirtyjason.com used to sell great, couldn't even compare her to the other scenes. She is very cute and has a top body, even though she looks amateurish. I even got tons of emails from surfers asking who she is and where can they find more of her.

There is a nut for every bolt. If you understand that, you would not make comments about ugly girls, because you would know that there are guys who like those ugly girls. If you don't know why that is, I'm not going to waste my time explaining it to you.

Put a Playboy level model in a Hustler strength scene and you have a winner. Then you need less marketing to get the same sales. The problem today is finding those girls.

I'm always amazed at the number of people on GFY who praise average looking girls as being "Hot" because she's showing her pussy, when she's just average.

This, thus is why there is a niche for everyone. Some people like the typical plastic blonde or 1 legged girls while others like normal looking girls and some will sign up for fat ugly bitches. So you pick your niche and be the best at it.

the quality of models and paysites has never been better - go back 10 years and see the shit that was available, there were a handful of quality paysites back then, now there are a ton of them covering god knows how many niches and micro-niches.

sales aren't down because the quality of model and content. some of the highest quality paysites and i won't mention them by name are seeing some of the worst sales drops.

the models being over exposed - that is an issue, and there isn't really a solution to that. some sites try to recruit their own models and they do get some but finding enough to update a site once a week - impossible. never seen a paysite that could exist on its own models without having to go the adult talent agency route. um..... well..... Abby Winters does it but look at the girls he shoots, talk about some ugly girls but he has a huge following of men who love the reality of his models and content. And Playboy does it but that's Playboy - there's only one Playboy. Not like there are girls in Nebraska dreaming of being a Twistys or FTVGirls model, as nice as those sites are.

There is a lot more reasons why some people here dont make any money other than just bad content, it goes a lot deeper than that.
shitty sales has very little to do with content. content is just a small part of the equation. And depending on the market you are advertising to, amateur type, self shot content will do better than the hi res airbrushed wall poster content you are selling. Every niche is different, there really is no junk. Even that crappy ass stuff that the dingo from aussie use to post on here had a niche.

probably best for you to stick to photography and not making money from advertising. What all surfers on the internet want does not = your perspective.

For adult mags i'll give you that content is king.

for everything else online traffic is king :winkwink: you can have the "best content" whatever that may be depending on who you advertising to, and it doesn't mean shit if you don't have any traffic. I've made lots of money off of what most people would think is shitty content. hell even back in the day I would photo shop content to make it worst (blurry / grainy) to make it look more amatuerish. Traffic and sales pitch is the most important part. Sure some content will do better than others, but it comes down to traffic, and the right pitch.
