You ARE your SS number. That is the only credible crosscheck the govt has.

You use it when you apply for a job, a credit card, medicare, social security, an apartment, a mortgage, etc.

How would the census have any credibility if it wasn't based upon SS numbers? Right or wrong, you ARE a number, and the census is all about numbers.

Yeah, but that's fucked because I can cross check people scamming me on things like mortgage and credit but not on a census and they've turned the SS# into something very valuable to be protected. You shouldn't just be handing it out to anyone.

Next time you go to a bank to open an account ask the teller for their SS number too, and tell us how that works out.

You can definitely ask for the census workers ID of course, and even call your local census office to confirm the info, but in the end I just want to say, not EVERYTHING is a conspiracy...

The huge difference is that this asshole is knocking on my door. I know where my banks are located and when something looks weird and is traced back there I can easily locate the fraud. I go to them; they don't come to me requesting.

If the guy was trying to get into your house he was not from the census. They are told to NEVER enter someones house.

No one would have come to your door if you had simply mailed back the form.

If you don't pay taxes for a long enough period of time, someone will also knock on your door.

Same if you don't pay your rent, your mortgage, your power bill, etc.

Best way to avoid people knocking on your door is to not give them a reason to knock on your door to begin with.

However, last year I had somebody from the Census Bureau contact me and we had a 15 minute interview with all sorts of questions. I still have no idea what that was.
