sperbonzo 04-15-2010 02:49 PM

I have only hung out with her a couple of times but she seemed like a very sweet, very "up", high energy, almost innocent kind of person.

I was shocked to hear about this at the show, and Vino and I have been thinking of her and praying for her.... (Me with Judaism, Vino as a Hindu :-) ).

I've been so encouraged to hear about the improvements to her condition, and we keep her in our thoughts.... Go Tabitha!!

.

Today is a great day to wake up Pussycat.

GT-Omar 04-16-2010 10:11 AM

Just got this from her FB updates

"hey guys...soo the fam has said that she still remains in critical condition. Tabi can hear voices, and occasionally she opens her eyes to her sister's voice, however, she is still non-coherent. No word on when she will be transferred back, perhaps Monday or Tuesday, not 100%...

She will stay in Arizona in a care unit where no visitors are permitted until her doctors feel that she is ready to be brought back home"

Seems that the good vibes, prayers are slowly but surely reaching her. Keep fighting pussycat! We're with you!

NikKay 04-16-2010 12:14 PM

Much love and well wishes for Tabitha!

Elli 04-16-2010 05:38 PM

I just had an awful thought today: If Tabitha was trying to sit up on the railing, does that negate her insurance? :( :(

Stay strong, Tabitha! We're looking forward to the day you're back at home!

Canadian medical insurance is weird. We are supposed to take out supplementary insurance when we travel to the U.S. so we are covered in case of injury. Having said that though, I know two different people who received major injuries while in the U.S. and our OHIP (in Ontario where I believe she is from) covered 100% of the costs including paying for a medical flight home for them to finish their healing in Canada.

I live in a border city in Ontario, and we may have unacceptable waits for surgeries in certain fields and if that is the case, they will send you to the U.S. for treatment. A friend of mine developed a rare heart condition and was rushed to the hospital (not a heart attack). Within 15 minutes of getting to the hospital they had the tunnel (under the river border crossing) closed to traffic and an ambulance driving her through to a hospital in the U.S. close to the border that was actually one of the few that understood and treat her condition.

Ontario insurance applies to all people, rich or poor. They don't negate it if something is your fault, or it was a pre-existing condition. Everyo9ne is entitled to it. Hopefully because this was a life/death situation OHIP will just sign off on it and pay the bill without a second thought. Hell, they pay for the gastric bipass surgeries in the states constantly.

Yes she is from Ontario, I also know someone that was in a serious car accident, where everyone in the car died except my friend, in the US, it was a month before she was stable enough to be flown back, but OHIP without a 2nd thought paid for her medical bills in the US and paid for her medical plane back up here. I hope OHIP pays for everything for Tabitha too, but im betting they will.

That is very reassuring. Thanks for the explanation!

if that's the truth then why do millions of Canadians who travel pay for supplemental Blue Cross health insurance? my photog is going to the US for two months, i'm paying 240 dollars for his Blue Cross - the ONLY reason is in case of a catastrophic accident/illness like Tabitha's that would bankrupt him.

seriously, if Canada picks up 100% of the bill in the event of a major accident/illness the extra health insurance is a total joke and pretty much a scam.
