The sea below is stained in red not because of climate change and its effects to the envirnoment and its inhabitants.

This is the result of the cruelty by human beings (supposedly civilized).

Annually, in the name of "tradition", the local community of Faroe Islands Denmark, drive the dolphins into capture and kill hundreds of these famous and intelligent Calderon dolphins to the apathy of spectators.

This happens every year in Faroe island in Denmark and is done mainly by youngsters.

The dolphins don?t die instantly; they are cut 1, 2 or 3 times with thick hooks and blades to reach their spinal cord. And every time the dolphins produce an extremely grim cry, compatible with the cry of a new born child until they die in their own blood.

In this big cultural "celebration" everyone is participating, in one way or the other, killing or watching this cruelty -apathetic, ?supporting" as spectators.

Take note of the number of impressionable young children witnessing this slaughter...
And we are SURPRISED OF THE VIOLENCE SPIRALLING IN CHILDREN and YOUNG ADULTS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD?
IS THIS THE EXAMPLE ADULTS ARE ALLOWING TO BE SET ?!

TORTURE IS NOT CULTURE.

The Health Authorities in the Faroes have recently issued a recommendation against eating the meat and blubber from the pilot whales, due to the fact that the whales are contaminated with various heavy metals and POPs causing a threat to PUBLIC HEALTH and yet this slaughter continues.? !

This is unacceptable behaviour.

Okay first of all we (danes) don't wanna have anything to do with those shit heads, and if it were up to the majority of the danish population we would sell the islands off to Sweden for the price of a new Volvo for the queen.. Unfortunatly the islands aren't worth shit.. And also unfortunatly we can't interfere in anything they do up there no matter how fucking stupid it is.. The Faroe Islands have their own local government and their own prime minister (Lawmaker) and so they are free to do what ever the hell they want. The only thing really tying us together is the monarchy..

This is a practice that must stop. It is a senseless slaughter that usually ends up with wasted whale carcasses that are not even eaten but left to rot. This is purely 'mob' rule rearing its ugly human face once again against harmless creatures. Some so-called 'traditions' must change for the benefit of mankind. On the other side, maybe the mercury poisoning will kill off the Faroese people and we will not have to worry about this absurd hunt!

Actually, you guys might be surprised to know most countries allow whaling still. Just kinda how it is. And yes, It's tradition they've been doing since forever, they aren't gonna stop. At least they kill less of them than they used to... (And no, they don't kill less because the creature is going endangered, they just kill them for tradition). Not sure if they were asked to kill less, or they just do.

Japan's dolphin slaughter is much worse, because it's not once a year, it's like once every few weeks. (Watch 'The Cove').

Pretty much all forms of fishing all over the world are FUCKED, far, far too animals are being taken from the oceans.

ehh.. All this shit is depressing.

It looks like brutal, inhumane slaughter. But what would happen if it were stopped? Would our lives over here be affected? Probably not. Would the people involved have their lives affected? Probably. I'm not sure I agree with any kind of action against people who do this. Yeah, it's barbaric and obviously wrong in our eyes, but what right do we have in enforcing our own brand of right and wrong on other people? They would have to stop it themselves. They obviously see nothing wrong with it, so they think they are right. Right and wrong are always subjective and never universal. And even if they only eat them partially and then leave the rest to rot, that's fine from a natural point of view. That's why food rots to begin with...to return to the ecosystem as nutrients for other living beings. Now, if the process of allowing these half-eaten corpses to rot negatively effects the ecosystem, then that would be cause for alarm.

Summary: I, as well as many others here, see this as wrong. But we don't have the authority to stop them from doing it. The best we can do is simply hope that they will stop. And making a petition for it is unlikely to do squat...it's no different than praying for change. Two hands working can accomplish far more than a thousand hands clasped in prayer, and the same can be said for petition-signing.
