total rubbish from someone who never had a blunt ... stoned ppl tend to be way more cautious becoz they KNOW they are on a ride ... besides, i never in my life met a weedhead who was aggressive ... alcohol is way more beasty ... to answer the Q: NO! NOT a single pot casualty has ever been reported ... you will puke, vomit, repeatively dig yer head in the ceramic bowl, but will NOT die ... heck, 12.000 yrs of using weed and no death recorded ... a gentle drug? :thumbsup

But the weed and/or the alcohol in the situation you've described, is NOT what killed them.

Look at the facts in your own statement.

If she had sat on the sofa and drank enough, it would have killed her eventually... by way of alcohol poisoning. If she had sat on the sofa long enough and smoked weed enough.... she would have gone to sleep and been fine when she woke up.

The driving off the cliff was a lack of responsibility.... not toxicity.

I drink and smoke. I don't do either of those things and then go driving. Why? Because I'm not stupid and I'm a responsible adult.

You & the angry cat are implying that she would have driven the wrong way on a highway if she was sober. There was no evidence of a suicide mission. Substance abuse does impair peoples judgment & abilities, thats why DWI is a big crime. Now you & many other people behave responsibly when you use pot or alcohol. That does not mean everyone is so wise or disciplined.

"IF" we're even going to call it "a drug".
It's a plant that grows naturally.

"Drugs" in my view, are created by big corps in big labs for big profits.
We're talking about a weed.

Illegal indeed. If I want to go out back, cut off a hunk of one of the trees and smoke it, who's to tell me I can't? Why is this weed any different?

It's not. Prohibition (which is what it is) on this plant needs to end.

Then they shouldn't be using substances that are beyond their maturity level. Period.
And there are consequences to being an idiot. It happens every single day with alcohol. You can't protect dumb people from themselves.

dyna mo 04-18-2010 03:51 PM

Researchers say about 2.5% of fatal car crashes were attributable to marijuana compared with nearly 29% attributable to alcohol.

The study also showed that drivers who tested positive for marijuana were more than three times as likely to be responsible for the fatal car crash. Researchers say the likelihood of being at fault increased as the blood concentration of marijuana increased.

dyna mo 04-18-2010 03:53 PM

what i do not understand is how the researchers know or not know if the driver was under the influence of pot since pot stays in the system for weeks after use

TurboAngel 04-18-2010 03:54 PM

I had a friend who died from lung cancer and only smoke weed never touched a cigarette.

You really are a fucking idiot aren't you?

Neither of us implied anything of the sort. You're the one misdirecting the blame here. She had no business behind the wheel while impaired. Marijuana didn't get her into a car and crash the fucking thing. SHE DID.

Do you also blame heavy metal and video games for school shootings?

If this is the case let's blame porn for rape and child molestation while we're at it...

your right. she made decisions, while drunk & stoned, to get on the wrong side of a highway & kill 7 innocent people. Was she making a sober judgement to do that, or was her judgement fucked up by the chemicals she was using? You talk as if the drugs had nothing to do with her decision making.

People make the decision long before they get drunk and stoned if they're willing to drive drunk and stoned... :2 cents:

agreed. She was definitely a chronic user & thought she could handle it. But as she got more drunk & stoned, she lost her ability to drive. When you get so wasted you get on the wrong way on a highway & drive 2 miles, in no way can you call this sound judgement making.

anyway...pot won't kill, but yes people can get impaired & do things they would not do sober. sometimes that results in dead people. :2 cents:

according to the wiki article you cited, she was not a chronic user at all.

LOL...she was drinking, baking & driving on a Sunday morning, with 5 kids in her car...ever heard of casual users doing that?

i'm not in a position to take 1 car crash, make assumptions and then a sweeping conclusion based on those assumptions.

right...it was just as likely it was her first time using drugs & alcohol. Sunday mornings driving kids is the perfect time to try it out. :1orglaugh

People die from * of therefore someone must have died "from" cannabis.

I think Bob Marley died from lung damage due to smoking weed.

Awesome....

but I'm going to take the approach of just continuing to post analogies that are so obvious it shouldn't even be a question.

If I take 3 Lithiums, 1 Lamotrigine, 2 Paxil, and 3 Valium at 9 am
3 more Lithium, 2 more Valium at noon, drink rum all day, smoke some Salvia, then chew up a few Vicodins for my tooth pain..... drink a case of beer and swallow 2 ambien...... and I'm sick with a cold, so throw in some Sudafed, Robitussin, Tylenol, some acid reducer, and a few cough drops..... chased with a few snorts of Afrin....

(all of this is perfectly legal..... remember. It's all been prescribed or is available over the counter). (and this was my reality for a few years by the way). (yet I never killed anyone).

then murder my neighbor because I decided he was an asshole.

What are you going to blame that on?

If I had had ONE HIT of weed.... you'd say, "Well, clearly it was the ganja!"

Never mind all the fucking SUICIDE I've already stuffed into my brain, kidneys & liver..... it HAS to be the weed, right?

Get a clue.

(not you specifically alias, just using what you said as a booster, you know, to expand on.)

:2 cents:

BestXXXPorn 04-18-2010 07:37 PM

More people die from eating peas every year than smoking marijuana considering the death toll is nil... Someone earlier said there was a death associated to marijuana but I've never heard of one :P

alias 04-18-2010 07:43 PM

No problem AMP, I understand what you mean. In all reality weed or any other chemical / substance is no worse than it's inherit dangers =].

Agent 488 04-18-2010 07:56 PM

know a couple of people who died from weed od's. it happens.

L-Pink 04-18-2010 08:17 PM

Many many times I have tried to commit suicide by weed. Last night for instance and probably next weekend also.

Come to think of it, I don't recall ever seeing a person ANGRY on pot... EVER. Drunk and Angry, that's a given. But stoned (only) and angry... haven't seen it. And weed is illegal and alcohol is legal
