They are never going to legalize all drugs. Perhaps pot, but I can't imagaine cocaine, meth, heroin and other drugs being legal. Then you would have a bunch of high people driving around. It is bad enough drunks get behind the wheel. If people want to come to the US they can do it legally. The US has always been open to new citizens.

No one in Arizona seems to notice or care that he was shot by drug dealers that just happen to be illegals. Instead they seem to see this as an opportunity to brand immigrants the same as drug dealers. I would say the problem has more to do with failed drug policy and border security then it has to do with illegal immigration. This timeline is just to get your case processed for a green card, not a US citizenship.
It takes 5 years to become a citizen AFTER you become green card holder, plus about a year to get your papers processed. So your friend is on time. No problem there. Imagine having your mother wait 6 years just to get a visa to come visit you.

It's not easy in any Country... It can take you equally as long to legally immigrate into Canada.

Also, the United States has laws to help immigrants come in on temp visa's for Farming and even manufacturing.

They do not take years, they take weeks. Being that we're talking about illegals crossing the borders, the majority NEVER plan on becoming legal citizens - that is not what they are here for.

The law is already in place. If you're illegal in the US for more than 6 month you cannot get a visa. if you're legal resident and commit a crime, you legal status will be revoked.

It takes less than a year for independent immigrant with skills to get thru Canadian immigration. Family cases take less than six month. It takes 6 years for the US. 6 years just to get a visa for your mom/dad/ etc.. If its you brother/sister its more like 12.

I lived and worked on a Visa in Canada. They make the Company prove no other Canadians can do the job before they allowed me in. If any other Canadian could have done my job, I wouldn't have been allowed in.

I know a friend married to a Canadian and it took several years for him to legally get into Canada. His parents can't migrate to Canada, but his Kids can. Like wise, I have a friend married to an American born in a different Country, it took equally as long for everything to come through. His parents can visit as often as they long, even for long periods of time, but they can never migrate here.

It's not easy anywhere... you should have to wait years. Non immediate family members shouldn't be allowed to migrate with anyone, and if they can it should take 2-3 times longer as they have no reason to be here.

I have done it myself. You do not need a company invitation or secured spot. You need to pass self assessment test and see if you have enough points to qualify for "skilled worker" program.
