i've yet to ever find or see someone link to or provide any official adobe document, memo, email. video, etc stating that piracy has been a part of the success of photoshop and that piracy *paved the way* i mean seriously, to think that piracy of your own product is no only acceptable and condoned, but paved the way for the success of what is clearly the best product in its category

I own my software and my music and damn straight, I have tested, listened and tried TONS of stuff online, before I buy it - almost 100% of the time. It would be impossible for me to know how much money this has saved me.... allowing me to invest my money back into my Company and not someone else's trash.

while piracy hurts in porn it also helps in small amount. If everyone stole photoshop adobe would be SOL, same with porn. But with a limited spread, it spreads the brand out... everytime someone sees idk bangbros on a tube site and likes it, it just keeps them with that brand... etc... too much piracy is bad for any company, or product but a certain amount can be just marketing and brand awareness....

You can often try theater stuff from Best Buy for a bit and return it if you don't like it. Just like with most software you can try it free, with limits - however Best Buy doesn't give me limits other than time.

When Photoshop first came out, it wasn't really better than Paint Shop Pro - actually it wasn't a "web graphics creator", it was a Photo editor and sold as one.

Photoshop was later pirated... mostly by Graphic Designers, Design Companies and Web Developers - which turned around and purchased it, after it was made better.

Anyone else, didn't care to learn how to use it, so they weren't a factor either way.

hindsight is another matter though eh, in hindsight, adobe realizes that their early product was easy to pirate and pass around the office. but that certainly does not mean it was planned or strategy or condoned. it simply means that at that time there was much to learn about combating it.

adobe wouldn't of incorporated all the anti-piracy code the product has and it also would not of introduced products such as ps elements and educational versions if it were actively marketing/advocating its product via piracy.

What irked the fuck outta me, is you buy font discs at the store for $20 and then you go online and all the fonts are free. They just rip the discs and upload em no diff than torrents free progs etc...

I have some software that cost me $4k for a single application. That one has a hardware key, so it can't be pirated. Some I have with other measures (not a hardware key) that run a few thou for a single app. I wonder why those guys never let their software hit the pirate sites for some of that free marketing. :winkwink:

Again... I did pay for some, others I deleted but all did get downloaded first. Same with music, I have checked out a few songs online, then purchased what I wanted or the CD. I have found movies and cartoons that you can't rent or buy in America, watched the entire thing online, then purchased the series.

Nothing that I own is stolen, it's all purchased.

Back when I first started out, I downloaded it like 95% of everyone else. Eventually, I decided that since I was finally making some cash, I'd buy it for the updates and customer support. I would never buy another copy, since I dropped way to much on it when I did buy it (I bought the entire suite, not just photoshop). I've more than made my money back on it by now. There is a 0% chance I would buy it straight away if starting out all over again, I'd do what I did last time. Download it, get succesful, then buy it :P

I've got many, many thousands of dollars wrapped up in not only software but image, video, & audio stock as well. The benefit to possessing those pesky licenses for this material becomes evident when, for instance, someone comes out of the clear blue sky and accuses you of ripping a Snoop Dogg audio composition (song), and you can prove it is original work, and that you have license to the raw materials. (as well as the software used to create it.)

I hope there aren't any of those teabaggers downloading pirate-ware. Piracy could be seen as "spreading the wealth" and we wouldn't want any of that evil Socialism going on. Capitalism is the reason why stuff like this is so expensive.
Expensive software, therefore, must = Proof that capitalism is alive & well.
