Oh yeh, a spade is a spade.

Yes they have different quirks regarding things in designs, (have had some odd requests) but if you talk like a professional in client exchanges you wont have problems.

For example: dont flirt, do your business, I work with a lot of solo girls and its flirting and shit that separate businessmen from suitcase wannabepimps

Word up!

Ive had people ask and make sure they are talking to the right Deej because my Business talk is much more refined and 'professional' than my shit I spew here all the time.

When its real biz I keep it real. If I work with them for a year I end up being comfortable enough to call them asshole or something :thumbsup Yea, you know who you are asshole!

J. Falcon 05-05-2010 01:59 PM

Never had that problem myself. What exactly did you say to her/them?

CDSmith 05-05-2010 02:06 PM

Man or woman, business dealings with either is a crapshoot. Some women can make for the best most smooth-sailing biz relationships ever, while others end up making you sorry you ever bothered with them and their attitude. Same goes for male clients too though.

Just work on being the best "you" you can be. That's really all you have control over.

digitaldivas 05-05-2010 02:17 PM

never had problems with women professionally, only the ones i date :(

In all seriousness though, it's tough to be a woman in this industry because threads like this do not support us well. And I'm not saying it's unjustified. I have met more women in this industry that do not understand the product they are promoting than men. It drives me insane when women use their boobs, or they flirt to get a deal done.

Use your brains, the rest follows.

:thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup

I've dealt with so many clueless, incompetent affiliate reps who couldn't find their own ass with both hands. Most are female. Rather than get upset with the rep, I get upset with the programs who hire these bimbos and make me deal with them. Frankly I consider it an insult to my intelligence.

I'm not swayed by a pretty face or someone calling me "hun", "babe" and "sweetie." I'm married and I am a businessman. Flirting with me in business just irritates me.

I hate incompetence from either gender. I try to give everyone a chance but I am usually disappointed. I remember the initial contact I had with you at your old gig. I thought "oh fuckbeans, not another one." I was pleasantly surprised (hence my quote in your sig). Not only were you able to help me get shit done, you were able to provide valuable information and you did it without LOLs, smileys or pet names.

If programs insist on hiring people who don't know how to make their own sales then they should at least hire you to teach them how to do their jobs and what webmasters expect when they contact their rep.

Klen 05-05-2010 02:38 PM

I think most "legendary"female affiliate rep was tassy pink.Anyone remember her?

I loved that quote that day I read it - as you can see from my sig.

Thanks!

Sorry, meant to comment on this part as well ...

Thanks, that is very nice to hear. I run the Sales department over here and I have two reps, I've had more and they have come and gone. I'm not afraid to fire. I very much have a sink or swim mentality when it comes to sales and this industry, you either get it or you don't.

I try to surround myself with a higher-level thinking, creative ideas type sales team and so far I have exactly what I want.

I'm always willing to give advice on sales tactics, ways to gain more sales, etc ... for free! Some take me up on it and some don't.

Being an idiot is knows no gender boundaries.

There are some really smart women in this industry, some of which have posted in this thread. (eg, Kristen, Ayla_SquareTurtle, and probably some I am overlooking)

There are some really stupid ones who make my flesh crawl to see their name listed as a thread starter.

Same thing for men.

I respect some men in the industry, and I respect some women. I tend to respect the women that I do respect more than the men I respect, simply because I know it has been tougher on them.

Anyone else had such problems?

You talking about prostitutes right?!. I have the same problem.

I have been in this industry for more than 10 years and more often than not, most of you don't even kn ow I am a female until much later in the business relationship.... simply because I don't feel the need to announce it. Maybe I am doing it wrong? Who knows. :Oh crap

lmao

yep, this biz is no place for sensitive females. :2 cents:

Phoenix 05-05-2010 04:26 PM

i been nice to all the women i ran into so far in the business..and i havent gotten lucky with anyone of them...i think i need to change my tactics

wait...are we trying to do business...or get down to business?

;)

Ayla_SquareTurtle 05-05-2010 04:42 PM

Aww, thanks. I don't think we've ever even been introduced, but I always look for your posts (as well as Kristin's) because they're level-headed and you both seem to share a lot of my opinions on things.

I'm not really well known on the boards, so it's kind of cool to see my name mentioned in a positive way by someone I actually like. :)

there is your problem right there, i usually have my nickname as "daddy" on icq so when they address me they have to address me as "daddy".

they normally get turned on and start stripping for me. :thumbsup

2 of the ladies, who have posted in this thread, have shown the very behavior that the OP is referring to when I have contacted them in the past.

If they read this and wonder if I am referring to them then the answer is probably yes.

One specifically lady in this thread has blocked every possibility of me doing business with the company she works for.

BTW....I have no problem doing business with most people. Doesn't matter to me what their sex is....BUT, I've never had a guy pull the same type of shit as the previously mentioned ladies have pulled.

Ayla_SquareTurtle 05-05-2010 05:31 PM

Considering that only a few women have posted in this thread, you may as well just go ahead and name names. :1orglaugh

I know it's not me because I've never talked to you before. :upsidedow

The only time that doing business should ever involve a woman.......... is when you are selling them or their likeness to a third party. :2 cents:

Spoken like a true asshole.

Imortyl Pussycat 05-05-2010 05:47 PM

I've found the majority of the women in this industry to be extremely intelligent and easy to work with ( I don't think that is just because I am a woman). A small % behave intolerably. The same is true for the men. Some of the most brilliant, good natured men I've ever met work in this industry and then you have that small % of douchebags. Why is it that the smaller % of misbehaved individuals cause such a comotion and put a dark cloud over their entire gender most times? weird

thus far this thread is both fascinating and humorous :thumbsup

AaronM 05-05-2010 05:49 PM

Make that 4.

Just kidding. I love you Julie. :)

nico-t 05-05-2010 05:55 PM

not talking about this industry but in the business world as whole - the problem with women is this:

They do everything by the book, they are not flexible.

Exceptions are always there ofcourse but on average this is true.... its really annoying
