Maybe hard to believe people fall for it, but they really do. Sorry your friend and his family are so dead set on believing it. Why dont you drive him down to his bank and sit down with a branch manager and he can set up a wire from account to account.... and let his bank break the news to him.

The initial email asked him for personal information by which they identified him... I am certain he has had his identity stolen as well.

I watched a tv program about 6 months ago talking to victims of this fraud and using different data/research showed thousands and thousands of americans and canadians still falling for this scam every year .....:(

He didn't think it was odd that they, ya know, contacted him by fucking email about a multi-million dollar inheritance??

I hate hearing about people getting ripped off by these fuckers. But shit, he's got to learn not to be so naive.

I'd just be pissed if I didn't realize my friend was such an idiot myself and scammed him on my own...

A friend of mine just got $500k from insurance money. She really did.

She quit her job and is much more atttractive to me now. :-)

I knew people who fallen madness and foolishness as well... I left them and I don't want to hear about them anymore.

Let him fuck himself up, he'll learn something from it. If a friend of 20 years is telling him NOT TO DO IT, and he does it:

a) He isnt much of a friend if he doesn't value or trust your opinion.
b) He is immature. Immature enough to get taken in a scam as old and easy to spot as this
c) He is not that bright.
b) Is sending money to people he doesn't know, aka read the first 3.

Tell him that your friendship is over and that you wish him the best when he never sees his "inheritance", or gets his money back. If that doesn't snap him back to reality, then really cut him off and don't assosciate with him again. When he comes and appologizes to you for ignoring your warnings, tell him that next time, he shouldn't be such a gullible moron who completely disregards his friends opinions and advice, while blindly following a couple of scam artists and their advice.

What can I say? I have a very, very short fuse for stupid people. And this friend of yours is acting incredibly stupid.

To add to my story earlier regarding the TV program , a couple that the show was interviewing from Canada ( they parted with something crazy like $100 k ) even flew to the UK to the scammers lawyers offices in London to sign the paperwork and return home with the check ! ( of course they didnt realise the scammers so called lawyer offices etc would turn out to simply be 1 day rented out service offices costing about $80 a day etc......

All those scammed admitted that it was all down to GREED ! and thats the problem! :(

It's bad that he's been taken, but even more scary that he still thinks he's in with a chance.

I hope you can be strong and continue to bash him over the head with stories, statistics, websites, warnings, whatever you can...

i feel very sorry about those people ... they do something in good mood, they think wow, they are enjoying their best moments in life for a while ... but how can they know about nigerian scammers? same as me if i will be buying used car ... i know shit, i will buy something i think what a deal, but i will get slap to the face from my friends. it is sad that good heart is so close to naivity. hope he will get back to the feet asap
