Wasn't it 5000 barrels/day, which is equivalent to 210000 gallons that was originally estimated. By your estimates that's only what, 288000 gallons/day from that pipe??? Still, I know what you mean :) |
terrible...

BP originally estimated up to 1,000 barrels (42,000 US gal) a day was leaking from the wellhead. On April 28, NOAA said that the rate was probably five times that initially estimated by BP, i.e. 5,000 barrels (210,000 US gal).
John Amos, a geologist who has worked as a consultant with oil companies on measuring oil spills, said that figure is the “extremely low end” of their estimates, putting a more realistic figure at 20,000 barrels a day. Other sources using satellite imagery have put that number as high as 25,000 barrels (1,100,000 US gal) a day |
we are so destructive to the planet, other creatures and ourselves.

earth speels the shit

They really did a good job - the public all believe this is a matter of 5000 barrels/day, while in reality experts are saying it is MUCH MUCH worse and the leaks could continue for MONTHS.

Hurricane season is going to be very interesting and could have some seriously devastating outcome.
