you'd be able to cook all your food without salt

Everybody in this thread who said they cook without salt is officially on my "doesn't know fuck all about cooking" list. Thanks for outing yourselves, philistines.

I never add salt to my food. obviously some foods have salt in them but as far as table salt goes I can stay away.

How many of you boobs don't use oil when you fry foods - you just drop that shit into a dry pan?

I don't think I can do that

Certain flavors can compensate for the salt flavor--for example, instead of adding salt, add some lemon juice. It depends on the recipe though.

Acid and salt are two completely different. Salt doesn't have a flavor if used properly.

Basically what you just said is, "Certain tools can compensate for not having a ratchet--for example, instead of loosening bolts with a ratchet, use a hammer."

Bad example.

A hammer is the universal solution to everything :upsidedow

I've gone for over a year eating only homemade meals and never added salt at all. I did have salt on my peanuts that I throw in my breakfast cereal.
But yes, especially if you workout you need some salt.

Sure you can. I grew up with a mom who was afraid of salt for some reason. I didn't learn to cook with it until I was in my early 20's.

Jeez, you look like that AND you cook? The perfect girl does exist.

It depends. Are you deep frying or just lightly frying? If you're doing the latter, there's many grooved non-stick pans you can use.

Non stick is the devil. A properly seasoned cast iron pan will see you and your children's children through countless meals with just a little love.

I used to be a big fan of salt. I would layer my food with it (especially mashed potatoes). When I stopped doing that I noticed that I wasn't as moody. Too much salt is really bad for your brain. I mean, your body requires a certain amount everyday, but excess can mess your head up.

Spanx!
