Technically he is responsible, when he was running for office he clearly said anything that happens under his watch will and would be his administrations responsibility. He appointed the new director of the Minerals Management Service and she reported to him according to what he said after her stepping down. Minerals Management Service knew of the problems going back to February and did nothing...all under Barrys administration and people he appointed to the position.

Just like the standard people held Bush up to when he was fucking things up Barry is in the same situation mainly because hes not a leader but just that same old community organizer from Chicago that's way in over his head.

Policy wise, I don't agree with everything Obama has done, however policy wise he hasn't really done anything that has damaged us.

To me it isn't so much about if things have improved, its that he stopped the crazy fast downfall that was happening. I don't expect our Country to turn around until we set the standard for another new technology, like we did in the 90's.

If our Country would truly move green, we already do wonders in solar energy... we just need to explode this Industry, set the standard across the world, own the technology, etc. And we will be back on our feet.

As for banking, they dig their own graves - bad business is bad business. Local credit unions aren't having any of the problems the national banks are.

i hear ya re: green energy. was reading some studies that stated the solar panel/batteries industry will increase from $4b to $23+b by 2014 so i do think there is opportunity for change.

my issue with obama and the gulf stems from several things- his complete lack of overhauling the MMS when he entered office and the appointment of salazar to run it is/was inexcusable. his politicizing the catastrophe in his speech to set up pushing through cap&trade, his pr gaff of golfing this weekend sends the wrong message, the lack of his *kicking butt* to lead a change in oil industry legislation and the $20b bp escrow is not in accordance with the powers of the president. oh and the moratorium on drilling was short sighted and still allows rigs like the atlantis to operate.
