Alec,
In all these yrs online I don't think I've ever had a beef with you..... I did get pissed off when I belive in the start of the .xxx saga you supported it..... We own tons and tons of domains and I will never buy 1 .xxx I still think it won't get approved but I have been wrong before... The owner is a asshat and you know it.. Sure, business is business but...... Peace Todd |
Q, do you have a pre-registration process in place yet?
If so you can consider the following list officially taken: WebsiteSecure.GiveQMoney WebmasterScore.GiveQMoney TheTongue.GiveQMoney BiReviews.GiveQMoney EngineFood.GiveQMoney SafeToJoin.GiveQMoney Thanks :thumbsup |

After all you are the founder and I believe the landlord and a paid consultant? |
Homegrown Video trademark concerns
I already have enough problems protecting our trademarks with adult themed Homegrown domains... if they get it then we will certainly have a problem with them selling any .xxx domains with the term "Homegrown" ... and we will be happy to remind them how willing we are to protect our marks.

So how about that list of CP sites that have been shut down by the ASACP after all these years and hundreds of thousands of dollars contributed by this industry in support of it? I know your a promotional genius so Id think that would be a list that ASACP would proudly display as the bounty from all those years of hard work and protecting the children for those types of sites. Certainly after what 10 years or so there must be hundreds of them? Bring on the list so we call all shout bravo Alec Helmy and ASACP!!!! |

What's the beef Gonzo?? I'm not into drama but your def. pissed off.... |

this thread is snoballing no where. kinda sad actually because xbiz was so idolized over avn. now it seems like their just becoming one.
|

I like what hes done with Xbiz and I admire his tenacity. I just had a question that popped in my mind that no one has answered all these years. Im wondering why now. |
Quote:
I respect your feelings but did you know that .XXX's loudest and most aggressive opponents today formally expressed their desire to get on board with it? I wonder what made them change their stance as the key concerns surrounding .XXX have not changed since day 1. Perhaps it's all a public front. |
When .GiveQMoney becomes a reality, I hereby aver that it will be operated with the utmost transparency!!!*
* By which I mean it will be transparently self-serving in every conceivable way. |
Quote:
Alec what is your stance on .xxx? Is this something you support or have supported in the past? |
Quote:
I hear you..... All is good... I am not a crusader by any means but there will be no .xxx in my future |
Quote:
PR stunt, delusions of grander - I don't know Alec. But I do know that I will never support .xxx - if the sheep want to follow - best of luck to them... |
Quote:
He needs to move on. |
Quote:
So then I gather that the ASACP is on board with pushing .xxx through? If so, what is in it for them? This is a business and no one does anything for the "good will of it"....... it's all about return. |
Quote:
And as you well know Ive gotten in more than my share of "crusades" over the years. Im just asking a couple of questions that Im certain others would want to know about as well. |

Maybe this sheds some light on the entire debate and some of Mike Souths comments
http://forum.icann.org/lists/stld-rfp-xxx/msg00061.html <<< Chronological Index >>> <<< Thread Index ICM To: stld-rfp-xxx@xxxxxxxxx Subject: ICM From: Joanasacp@xxxxxxx Date: Mon, 17 May 2004 03:52:05 -0400 ASACP (asacp.org) is the organization that helps the adult site industry make a difference in the battle against child pornography. ASACP recognizes sexual child abuse as a heinous crime committed against children. As a major deterrent to such abuse, ASACP was formed in 1996 and is dedicated to eliminating child pornography from the Internet. ASACP also provides a self-regulatory vehicle for its membership through a Code of Ethics that promotes the protection of children through responsible, professional business practices. Over 4,700 adult sites have joined our cause in raising awareness about this subject. ASACP investigates and assists the F.B.I. and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) in enforcing anti-child pornography laws against thousands of child pornography sites. To date, ASACP has received and reviewed over 100,000 reports of suspect child pornography, of which more than 25,000 valid child pornography sites have been reported to the F.B.I and NCMEC. ASACP has been in negotiations with the International Foundation for Online Responsibility (IFFOR) and ICM for it to serve as a hotline for reviewing reports of suspected child pornography and to carry out the secondary monitoring of .xxx sites for child pornography. I applaud IFFOR and ICM Registry's initiative to integrate tools and technology of finding and reporting child pornography websites into their proposed registry application to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). I also support the online adult industry developing their own credible business practices in conjunction with other impacted stakeholders and support the IFFOR initiative to create a line of communication between the adult industry and the global community. Sincerely, Joan Irvine Executive Director ASACP |
just as long as there's not a .www next...

Helmy,
Here is a quote from Mike's blog since he is banned here: "XBiz wouldnt even let me join their industry forum...and I love how that unethical cock sucker likes to point to journalism ethics...Im not aan news site Helmy you stupid fuck I'm an op-ed site and that means I can give my fucking opinion any time I want to....Fucking sell out." I have to ask, if Mike is an AVN award winner, why exactly would you not allow him to be part of the Xbiz industry form? The rules are, in your own words: Quote:

Homegrown Video and Mike South
As the company which gave Mike South his first shot in adult and produced the video that won the AVN award, I can personally vouch for him being an authentic adult industry veteran. :thumbsup
If Xbiz is censoring the debate so that only one side is being heard then that is just plain wrong and should be information shared with ICANN. |

I never made threats, I'm a big guy and I have never needed to threaten someone, it's not in my nature. I never sent him that picture, I posted it, he hotlinked it, I took it down from Xbiz and the picture disappeared at the same time on his blog. I never contacted the DMCA I never was removed from being a mod at GFY. I was a mod at GFY almost the entire time I worked for Playboy, I think I started 2 weeks after meeting Texas Dreams and ended when I left Playboy. He's the one that thru a fit by posting on his blog and then bringing it to my work place when one forum wasn't enough Although I was not allowed to talk politics , LMAO I've pissed off some people since I've been in this business, (When people are rude, I tend to treat them the same way) two of which I would gladly buy a beer when I see them, the other two are Mike South and Lawrence Connor, funny how both of these assholes are banned from GFY? |

Seems to me with the history they have, Mike would use it to just bash Alec |

I just think he likes Mike better than me and started off by answering his. |
Quote:
Why? Because he is a savvy businessman, and that's what savvy businessmen should be doing today. How does it work? It's a simple 5 step process -- Just: 1) shoot me an email with the .GiveQMoney domains you'd like to register 2) send me $59.94 per domain desired via PayPal, as a sign of good faith that you will pay the remaining 3 cents once the domains become active 3) I jot down your desires on a post-it note that I keep next to my monitor. 4) Then, when .GiveQMoney becomes a reality, just hit me up -- by then I will have an address in the Caymans where I can be reached during QBidniz Hours (defined as between 1:07 and 1:09 Pacific Time, Tuesday through Slightly Later on Tuesday -- or a "QBidniz Day") 5) Your .GiveQMoney domains will be active and ready for you to start working on them... within 90 QBidniz Days. And voila!! Just like that, you are in business.... the business of giving me money. So simple, so elegant, so clearly necessary to the continued well being of the greater adult entertainment industry. |
Mr. Helmy and Mr. South are masters of generating publicity and interest.
I wish somebody of import would "feud" with me so I could get a little extra talk about the things I'm doing. Arguing with guys like "fris" doesn't do anything. :1orglaugh |

I've written several op/ed pieces in opposition to .XXX, and made it very clear in my comments to ICANN that I don't like the idea. I think .XXX is without purpose in its current 'voluntary' form, and outright pernicious if it were to somehow become mandatory for adult site operators to use .XXX. At any rate, I'll stop with my foolishness and allow you guys to continue uninterrupted in asking Alec questions.... that he will never answer to your satisfaction. The reason I say that is that Connor has been pressing Alec on these subjects literally for years, and he hasn't been answered to his satisfaction; my sense is that it won't happen in this thread, either. :2 cents: |
