I'm just disappointed that I still haven't received any pre-registrations for my proposed sTLD, .GiveQMoney.

It's an opportunity for responsible members of the industry to signal their sincere intent.... to give me money.

Don't hesitate webmasters! You wouldn't want your brand's .GiveQMoney domains to be snatched up by some speculator, or even worse, your competition, would you?

$60 for .XXX domains is outrageous. That's why I've reduced the price on .GiveQMoney domains to a low, low $59.97 -- unlike ICM, I listen when my sponsoring community speaks.

One of these days, I'll get around to actually filing an application with ICANN for this sTLD. First though, I have to build up my war chest to retain attorneys, save up for eventual IP disputes, buy myself property in the Caymans, and other worthy causes that benefit YOU, the webmaster.

C'mon guys -- .GiveQMoney was created (well, "conceptualized," if you want to be picky about it) with YOU in mind. Don't let this valuable opportunity pass you by!!!

60.00 for a domain is nothing more than MONETARY RAPE!

Sweet! At this rate, I'll have that Cayman beach hou -- uh, I mean "strategically located international administrative office" -- in no time!

TooMuchMedia.GiveQMoney has a real ring to it, doesn't it? Maybe not the best key-in domain ever conceived, but still....

Helmy begs to differ.

Some in the industry see this is an utterly irrelevant question.

Others think that if it is true, it makes Helmy a "traitor to the industry" and/or a gaping asshole.

Some people point to ICM's offer to kick some of the $$ from .XXX registrations to child protection groups like ASACP (of which Helmy is the founder) smacks of "buying off" Helmy.

Others are just here enjoying the show, and haven't the foggiest idea wtf any of this is about... which won't stop them from posting statements that imply they have definitive knowledge, while still avoiding the presentation of any actual evidence in support of their claim of knowledge.

baddog (I think) is merely holding Helmy to his usual exacting BLUS (or "Baddog Linguistic Usage Standards")

I'm not sure Readers Digest would allow all of those terms to be used in their publication, but other than that, I think I've supplied what you are looking for.

I still think it won't get approved but I have been wrong before... The owner is a asshat and you know it.. Sure, business is business but......

BiReviews.GiveQMoney
EngineFood.GiveQMoney
SafeToJoin.GiveQMoney

Thanks :thumbsup

After all you are the founder and I believe the landlord and a paid consultant?

Homegrown Video trademark concerns

I already have enough problems protecting our trademarks with adult themed Homegrown domains... if they get it then we will certainly have a problem with them selling any .xxx domains with the term "Homegrown" ... and we will be happy to remind them how willing we are to protect our marks.

Thats a shame. All your hard work over the years. Maybe you make it back on rent?
So how about that list of CP sites that have been shut down by the ASACP after all these years and hundreds of thousands of dollars contributed by this industry in support of it?

I know your a promotional genius so Id think that would be a list that ASACP would proudly display as the bounty from all those years of hard work and protecting the children for those types of sites.

Certainly after what 10 years or so there must be hundreds of them?

Bring on the list so we call all shout bravo Alec Helmy and ASACP!!!!

I've always been curious about something... does ASACP have a Board in addition to (and above) the Advisory Council? I heard once that it did, but wasn't sure if that was right. If that's accurate, who's ON the Board?

colin farrell 07-15-2010 11:58 AM

No beef here Todd. I like Alec. Weve done business several times over the years.
I like what hes done with Xbiz and I admire his tenacity. I just had a question that popped in my mind that no one has answered all these years.

Im wondering why now.

I respect your feelings but did you know that .XXX's loudest and most aggressive opponents today formally expressed their desire to get on board with it?

I wonder what made them change their stance as the key concerns surrounding .XXX have not changed since day 1.

Perhaps it's all a public front.

Quentin 07-15-2010 12:01 PM

When .GiveQMoney becomes a reality, I hereby aver that it will be operated with the utmost transparency!!!*

* By which I mean it will be transparently self-serving in every conceivable way.

PR stunt, delusions of grander - I don't know Alec.

So then I gather that the ASACP is on board with pushing .xxx through?

If so, what is in it for them? This is a business and no one does anything for the "good will of it"....... it's all about return.

No .xxx for me either Todd. Its a simple money grab. Why not a .kids instead if your really worried about protecting children?

And as you well know Ive gotten in more than my share of "crusades" over the years.
Im just asking a couple of questions that Im certain others would want to know about as well.

ASACP (asacp.org) is the organization that helps the adult site industry
make a difference in the battle against child pornography. ASACP recognizes
sexual child abuse as a heinous crime committed against children. As a major
deterrent to such abuse, ASACP was formed in 1996 and is dedicated to
eliminating child pornography from the Internet. ASACP also provides a
self-regulatory vehicle for its membership through a Code of Ethics that
promotes the protection of children through responsible, professional
business practices. Over 4,700 adult sites have joined our cause in raising
awareness about this subject.

ASACP investigates and assists the F.B.I. and the National Center for
Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) in enforcing anti-child pornography
laws against thousands of child pornography sites. To date, ASACP has
received and reviewed over 100,000 reports of suspect child pornography, of
which more than 25,000 valid child pornography sites have been reported to
the F.B.I and NCMEC.

ASACP has been in negotiations with the International Foundation for Online
Responsibility (IFFOR) and ICM for it to serve as a hotline for reviewing
reports of suspected child pornography and to carry out the secondary
monitoring of .xxx sites for child pornography.

I applaud IFFOR and ICM Registry's initiative to integrate tools and
technology of finding and reporting child pornography websites into their
proposed registry application to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names
and Numbers (ICANN).

I also support the online adult industry developing their own credible
business practices in conjunction with other impacted stakeholders and
support the IFFOR initiative to create a line of communication between the
adult industry and the global community.

Sincerely,

Joan Irvine
Executive Director
ASACP

Helmy,
Here is a quote from Mike's blog since he is banned here:

"XBiz wouldnt even let me join their industry forum...and I love how that unethical cock sucker likes to point to journalism ethics...Im not aan news site Helmy you stupid fuck I'm an op-ed site and that means I can give my fucking opinion any time I want to....Fucking sell out."

I have to ask, if Mike is an AVN award winner, why exactly would you not allow him to be part of the Xbiz industry form?

The rules are, in your own words:

Homegrown Video and Mike South

As the company which gave Mike South his first shot in adult and produced the video that won the AVN award, I can personally vouch for him being an authentic adult industry veteran. :thumbsup

If Xbiz is censoring the debate so that only one side is being heard then that is just plain wrong and should be information shared with ICANN.

No, didn't go down that way,
I never made threats, I'm a big guy and I have never needed to threaten someone, it's not in my nature.
I never sent him that picture, I posted it, he hotlinked it, I took it down from Xbiz and the picture disappeared at the same time on his blog. I never contacted the DMCA
I never was removed from being a mod at GFY. I was a mod at GFY almost the entire time I worked for Playboy, I think I started 2 weeks after meeting Texas Dreams and ended when I left Playboy.
He's the one that thru a fit by posting on his blog and then bringing it to my work place when one forum wasn't enough

Although I was not allowed to talk politics , LMAO

I've pissed off some people since I've been in this business, (When people are rude, I tend to treat them the same way) two of which I would gladly buy a beer when I see them, the other two are
