1st one was ok, but the sequel, MAN!

Terminator 2 is one of the only few that comes to mind. The Dark Night was maybe slightly better too.
Godfather II was definitely worse than the first part in my opinion.

The Hannibal movies 2 and 3 were good.

Evil Dead 2 was, arguably, more of a remake of the original 16mm Evil Dead than a sequel. Evil Dead itself was an expansion of a Super 8mm short called Within The Woods by Sam Raimi with Bruce Campbell.

Neither Evil Dead 2 (which I just watched last night on IFC) nor Army of Darkness can touch the original. The sequels are more camp and comedy than straight horror. I like them, but the original fuckin' freaked me out when I was a kid.

Coincidentally, I just tossed out a bunch of old Fangoria magazines while cleaning my (recently deceased) mom's basement today. I almost want to go dig them out of the dumpster now.

I used to think T2 was better than Terminator, but after watching them again recently, I think the first one is the better film.

I think the Bourne movies got steadily better.

Thats probably the worst sequel in the movie history.

I've never seen El Mariachi but I'm sure there's a good chance that Desperado was better than it given how much Desperado kicks ass.

I agree. I think the last one in the trilogy was the best.

I thought El Mariachi was really good and that's without giving it any extra points for the tiny budget. I wouldn't have really called Desperado a sequel - more of a big budget remake.
