The saddest part about this whole thing is that while the mud slinging and blaming is flying around, and armchair pundits bicker about which party is right, there are people ill from 9/11 who need serious assistance.

yep that will teach them to volunteer off their shifts to help . They will vote no so they can get in and then they will spend away like they did when they controlled it all.

As Investor's Business Daily pointed out yesterday, if no action is taken, "(t)he lowest bracket for the personal income tax, for instance, moves up 50 percent -- to 15 percent from 10 percent. The next lowest bracket -- 25 percent -- will rise to 28 percent, and the old 28 percent bracket will be 31 percent. At the higher end, the 33 percent bracket is pushed to 36 percent and the 35 percent bracket becomes 39.6 percent."
along with many others. Most of the sources you masturbate over like msnbc will only point out the hike from 35 to 39.6 or the 31 to 33. You know those "unbiased" sources. :1orglaugh

Letting the Bush tax cuts expire would also place back the death tax.

Yep you got me pegged thats why I got pushed off of a big liberal blog ,they called me a right wing plant. lol Thats if they take no action they plan on taking action so it effects only those making 200k or more. Also the death tax exempts 3.5 million for one person and 7 million for a couple. But you can beat that one all you have to do is die this year. But you want to go war, fight terror, pay down the deficit. It costs money to do all that, Cant do it with bullshit talk, we are tough want smaller government and then run up the bill. Funny I dont remember you screaming when W was running up the old Chinese credit card.

I'm always amazed how the minority party, in both chambers and the Executive Office, has so much power. Well, at least we know next time the Republicans take over the House, Senate, and Oval the Democrats won't be sidelined.

This isn't even a right and left argument. It's a bunch of people nervous about elections playing politics. That's it. The Democrats can push through all sorts of bills that the Republicans don't want any part of, and they do it, and they can't push this through? Come on.

Our government "leaders" are only fueling this partisan hate we see all around.

The irony is they don't really have that much power, but in this case the democrats are kind of spineless. In the senate the only real recourse the republicans have is to filibuster. They threaten it all the time and the democrats give in and believe them. The democrats can't break the filibuster so instead of calling the bluff and forcing the republicans to actually filibuster and bring everything to a halt they give in.

If they had any balls they would tell the republicans to filibuster and then explain to the people why nothing is getting done because they are filibustering everything that hits the floor. But that doesn't happen.

Part of it may also be that the republicans know what comes around goes around so when they eventually get a majority back if they did nothing but filibuster everything they know the democrats would do it right back to them.
