if you sit at home and whine about life YOU ARE A LOSER. that is what LOSERS ARE. i have been depressed, wondered if i wanted to stay around, and i was acting like a COMPLETE LOSER. why the fuck do i want to help these LOSERS? seriously? all people do these days in the world is focus on the negative douche bags while all the good people get passed over. why do we as humans tie up so many resources trying help PIECES OF SHIT with their lame problems? And then we drain all of the resources away from people who SUCK IT UP and go along with their lives EVERYDAY without a complaint. well fuck LOSERS and their depression along with it. you want to be a big baby and whine cause life isnt treating you right. FINE. but im not going to spend 2 seconds feeling sorry for you. because i dont feel sorry for LOSERS. you want to be despressed and pop a bunch of meds because you are too big of a baby to look internally and solve real problems with yourself? FINE do it. the entire point of depression is that you have INTERNAL problems. and yet you are going to pop meds to mask that pain instead of dealing with it? makes sense to me NOT. wake up in a straw hut and drink water from the river that the cows shit in. then we can talk about depression. a bunch of grown babies. fuck off with this "depressed" shit. im tired of hearing about people and their lame fucking problems. eat, shit, sleep, whatever gets complicated in the middle for you is your problem. |

The only "cure" for depression is compassion. Stepping out of yourself and helping others/feeling good for others destroys the "shortcircuit" in one's mind that causes depression and other self-based maladies.

There's always the tried and true way of solving the issue permanently...

Lol, what a good read. It's easy to spot the people in here who know what depression is.
Metaman, you are a masterful troll and for that, you win. In the meantime, imagine your family was just murdered. Now imagine feeling that sorrow and pain, only your family is fine. Yeah, I didn't think you'd understand it, even when explained in a way that a child could comprehend. If you think that you can just "snap out of it", perhaps you shouldn't comment on something that is entirely alien to you. I don't completely grasp the economic repocussions of invading Iraq, so I don't comment on them. Because if I did, that would make me an idiot. |

no it is easy to spot here who are children and who are adults. adults take ownership for their actions and thoughts and not put a label on them like "depression" when things arent going their way. feeling sorrow and pain is a normal human function. that is EXACTLY what i am saying. anyone who takes that and puts a label on it such as depression either a) needs to get a life b) needs a bomb ass blowjob. i find it extremely pathetic when a human being goes into the "nobody understands me" mode. that is for teenage girls. NOT grown adults. |

hell anyone with a bad day can walk in and get labeled with clinical depression these days. keep telling yourself it is clinical. your babyness is a billion dollar industry. the more people they convince that they have more problems compared to others is extra 0's in their bank account. never forget that. go live in a straw hut in africa for a month. come back and report. and i bet you i just solved your depression. So you think I should go read about depression, instead of finding something more important to do, so that I can understand your condition better? I understand your "condition", you are a twat and don't want to admit it to yourself. I'm trying to give you some golden advice, as are a few others in this thread and you are CHOOSING to ignore the plain and simple fact that YOU are the only person that can help yourself. No pill, no external condition will help. Change the way you think. Change yourself to not suck. That's the ONLY way. |

And on a good day, I would agree about thinking happy thoughts and doing shit about "it" so that I don't feel sad and unhappy. Except when you're depressed, it's not that easy to do. Is it possible? Perhaps, but I've never been able to manage it. Does that make me weak, or pathetic, as you say? Who knows. What is weak? What is pathetic? You said it yourself, we are nothing, sitting on a tiny floating rock. If this was the case, perhaps you wouldn't be so quick to judge and voice your opinion (an irrelevant one, since we're tiny and nothing, just sitting on a floating rock). Or maybe you're just trolling and trying to make people feel bad. Either way, I'm enjoying your posts :) |
Success is measured by how quickly you pick yourself up after being knocked down and the ability to learn and grow from your mistakes.

Goals, Direction, Determination, Passion, Relentlessness, Drive, Enthusiasm... I can go on and on. If you do not have these traits, this is the reason why you SUCK and the things you need to change and work on. They are the things you NEED to get out of depression. It's not EASY. It is HARD WORK. But, if you really want to get out of it... You DO the hard work. Depression is Easy.

Exactly.
Look up any list of the "happiest countries" in the world and many of the ones in the top 20 are pretty poor countries. Indeed, many of these countries' lists of top prescribed/bought prescription drugs don't have antidepressants/antianxiety medications. Why? Many of these countries' social support systems include extensive networks of friends and cultural values that emphasize getting along and being involved with others. I hate Karl Marx but I do have to agree with him on some parts of his ALIENATION theory. "Developed" countries force many into deal with the devil--give up part of your humanity (communal definitions of privacy/cooperation versus competition, etc etc)in exchange for material richess of First World living. I don't fully agree but there's some truth there. Quote:

it took me a longtime to figure out. the main thing is YOU CONTROL YOUR MIND. you can control your thoughts and emotions. if something bugs you you can CHOOSE not to let it bug you. it is your mind. you dont know how powerful this advice is. it sounds like bullshit but it is 100% true. we as humans are capable of EVERYTHING. it is 100% mindset. if you tell your mind you cant do it you are not going to be able to do it. spend everyday understanding your own thoughts. i always look within for factors and no longer for external factors. your mind is sooooo insanely powerful that it can convince you you cant do anything before you have even tried. always remember ANYTHING is possible. and none of it comes overnight, the journey while working hard at something is alot of times just as rewarding as the final goal. it is about baby steps that add up to 1 giant leep. learn to control your emotions and get your mind in a place of peace. you find this by being able to look internally and not being afraid to deal with real pain. stop looking for external factors and look within yourself. look at the things that make you depressed and look at the things that make you happy. go towards those things. you can choose to do something about it THIS SECOND. that is how powerful your mind is. |
thinking your mind controls everything is childish. infantile wish fulfillment. not a wise and enlightened view at all. for new age retards.

Good stuff Metaman. :)
PenisFace... I guarantee you will fail on occasion. Look at those failures as an opportunity to learn and grow and get back up and keep pushing forward. Eventually, you'll get the hang of "being happy". Once you get to this point, you'll start to become enlightened. When you fail... Think "What can I learn from this?". Find SOMETHING valuable you can take with you from that moment. Essentially, you are taking something that negatively effected you and turning it into something useful and positive. The other thing is to never think about something unless it's a positive stream of consciousness, or you have intent behind it. "Think with intent" and have the "Attitute of Gratitude". Be greatful for the things you do have. Tell someone why you appreciate them. Do something for someone else and expect nothing in return. Afterall, isn't that what you want? Doing for others is a sure-fire way to "feel good" about something. Not to mention you end up making good connections. Surround yourself with others of like-minds. If you have retarded friends that do nothing but party, play games, act a fool and cause drama.... Ditch them. Get rid of the weight and get better people around you. |

i dont know why so many people are afraid to fail? when i fail i feel good in the fact i tried for it. through my failures is where i have learned the most. |

it is normal to be human and make mistakes or fail. i dont know how many times i have failed and now i take is as a learning experience. when you think about it all real knowledge you have is basically done by failing. when you first learned to ride a bike you would sway back and forth. fail until you got your balance. then riding your bike becomes easy. failing is the only way to learn how to changed or improve something. i am never afraid to fail now. because i dont view it as failing. failing in my book is if i wouldnt have tried in the first place. you need to re learn the way you look at things honestly. |
Dont think iv ever been depressed I just take life as it comes even when we lost everything ..sure I was pissed but i knew we would get back on our feet again even if it took a few years ..if something is bad I know it can only get better cause you control your own destiny in so many ways

1. Ignore those fuckers on here making fun or being snarky; chances are they're just saying these things to make themselves feel better and cannot see the irony. Fuck 'em. 2. Depression is absolutely a chemical reaction, and it sounds to me - your internet porn board "doctor" - like you're not fully Bi-Polar. You don't need those horrifying drugs you see advertised on TV (maybe they don't advertise them in Canada?). Drugs like Abilify: "Warning! May lose use of your legs...." Etc. Stay away from that prescribed shit. 3. Stay away from good ol' weeeeeed (I know, tough there in BC). Weed feeds depression, making it worse and worse. Unless you're the type who has to 'bottom out' before feeling better, then by all means smoke away (and remove any dangerous, life-threatening objects) 4. Sex will help - a little. 5. At least you're not: FatFoo SeeandSee MetaMan The Demon etc etc etc (and Mister Peabody) Good luck. Oh - and watch a Marx Brothers film and try NOT to laugh. :) |
Felling any better PenisFace? :thumbsup:thumbsup
Best of luck dude! |

I weened myself off the medication I was taking, and had some withdrawl symptoms at first (depression, exhaustion, sleeping 15+ hours a day). A week later, I suddenly felt normal. And then I joined a car club, and started going out all the time. Something that I wasn't able to do while I was taking my anti-anxiety medication. What the hell is up with that? The only downside to not being a zombie anymore is that I get emotional highs and lows again, perhaps I'm not used to them, because I didn't have them for 10+ years. I definitely don't smoke week or drink alchy. I've been drunk a few times, and the day after made me wonder why, lol. Quote:

hes trying to solve it by posting about it. If it was easy to end his depression, trust me, he wouldnt waste his time. People naturally want to be happy, there is no doubt about that. People would not choose depression over happiness, except in rare circumstances. And if there isnt a chemical imbalance explanation for some forms of depression, then explain why someone can take cynanide (a chemical) and die instantly, or smoke crack, (release dopamine), and get talkative? Take ecstacy (release all serotonin) and get happy and sociable Those dont illustrate that chemicals have an instant impact on mood and life itself? I guarantee of penisman, or whatever his name is took an ECSTACY pill, he would not feel depressed, he seems to me, to have a serotonin imbalance. there is really no good drugs for it though. IT's really hard to say until they come up with better brain imaging, who is right, the people who say its our own thoughts, or chemical imbalance, or both. They are going to have brain imaging and stuff available for this stuff this decade and do at some hospitals. |

I couldn't get myself to buckle down and work for the last few days, and now that I've read some of the replies in this thread, I'm sitting here working :thumbsup edit: Thanks to everyone who was compassionate about depression, and to those who said "deal with it". I'm going to bookmark this thread and come back to it if I start feeling like shit again. |
You'd be better off talking to a real doctor than listening to any of the nonsense in this thread. However, if you're already "feeling better" then you weren't depressed to begin with, you were just having a shitty day.
