I think all civilizations have been defined by that. In regard to a US civil war, however, the difference between the US now compared to depression years is a lot different. The US populace now is almost completely satiated with posting shit on message boards and eating fast food.

This is truth. Not to mention the fact that none of those militias or any of the gun toters are in any position to take on the US military in any way. Not that they would have to, because every hostile nation out there would be marching in the front door by then anyway.
