Hell, I gotta be honest with you. I don't understand why anybody would try to ruin another person's business. It's how they feed their family. It just makes no sense to me, and when I see it I kinda get defensive over it.
Probably shouldn't though. But I just can't understand it.
It's one thing to use GFY to air a grievance over something to do with somebody you actually do business with.
But to me, all these threads with people attacking other people's business...and the people doing the attacking having NO business dealings with the attacked person is just insane.
You know what I mean?
I could understand it if you and I had a business deal, I did something to fuck you over, and you come to GFY to cause me grief and force me to do the right thing.
I can't understand it if you were to look at my business, decide from afar that you just don't like it. And then play "Capt. Save-A-Ho" by making it a crusade to hurt me and cost me money.
For the life of me, that's what these kinds of threads look like to me. And the majority of the guys doing it are folks who won't tell what THEY do or what their websites are or how they conduct business.
Just wrong on a lot of levels to me.
Ball busting is one thing. But when you go after a man's livelihood it crosses the line in my eyes.
For instance, if I came after you and tried to hurt your business on GFY. I could potentially cost you some money. And if that happened....I have no idea how your finances are and how close you are each month in meeting your financial responsibilities. Do you have a family member that you are having to help out? Is your wife very sick with high medical costs? Are you struggling with a high mortgage?
I don't know. But my b.s. on GFY might cost you a few hundred bucks that could be the difference between keeping your head above water and drowning.
That's the kind of thing that I don't think people consider when they do this to other people with absolutely no reason other than they don't "like" him.

Robbie, you're obviously a rational, empathetic person who can actually - gasp! - put yourself in someone else's shoes and make allowances. These trolls who try and destroy someone's livlihood don't give two fucks about anyone but themselves because, to them, none of this is 'real". It's just a board, it's fun time for them, it's all a virtual game. But you are right, of course - people on GFY who do actual business have an actual reason to come and "play" here, other than their own inadequacies, self-loathing, boredom or worse.
There's no talking sense to them, or trying to be reasonable. They are incapable of normal human functionality. They are trolls, and sad, pathetic humans that I actually feel sorry for. So the way i cut these trolls some slack - because I want to be consistent here in my opinions about board nicknames - is to:
1. Laugh at them
2. Stay out of their way because I have real, concrete things I have to do with my life and business. What a concept.
I'll tell ya tho: what's great about these BF-bashing threads is I really don't have to read them anymore, just scroll past the avatars and see all the usual, sad suspects and chuckle, chuckle away. |
