I know you have to keep it on the downlow so you don't lose your clients to somebody else...but again, I have to ask: Are there any actual REAL affiliates with freesites like we were for over a decade that can still send honest traffic to a paysite and have 50 + people decide of their own free will to join that paysite?

That's a real whale in my experience. And I ain't talking about "Free joins" or trials that are gonna get monetized via x-sells (and yes, people are still doing x-sells), I'm talking about the old fashioned notion that a guy sees an ad for a paysite, clicks that ad, checks out the tour and buys a membership.

From what I have seen over the last couple of years with piracy the ratios are HIGH these days. It's not unusual to send 2,000 uniques of real surfers who clicked on a link with the intention of checking out a paysite and only get 1 sale.

So let's say your whales are converting like that. That would mean they are sending 200,000 UNIQUES a day to a single paysite and all of it is perfectly targeted traffic.

So now I would say...tell me like I'm in first grade, how anybody is doing that when nobody has traffic left anymore unless your name is "pornhub"?

I just can't see how they are doing it in a way that is honest and consists of actual people intending to join a site. And I'm pretty clever and quick with making money.

So if somebody could just give me a clue...just a small clue, instead of the mysterious: "Oh they are out there...muahahahahaha" as to how they can do all these sales when they don't have that kind of traffic....I'd like to know.

I don't think people realize how many joins are generated via mail still... Some guys in this thread assume the whales run TGPs.

I don't know how obvious I can be, I already mentioned, Class C's, Script, and Lists.

Okay, first off...as I mentioned earlier...the search engine terms are already taken by pornhub for the biggies.

The truly niched out keywords might still be there...but are they going to produce 100 sales EVERY day in this world of people NOT buying porn because it's already free?

And "script". Well that can mean anything. Not much of it necessarily meaning honest traffic.

Lists....I guess you mean emailing. Sounds good. But again...how do you get 100 sales EVERY DAY to a single sponsor in this age of piracy and free content everywhere?

Honestly, I'd say those three things would have kicked ass and worked like a charm 2 to 3 years ago. But today? Man, I don't know. I'm not gonna sit here and pontificate too much, because if somebody is pulling that off then they would know.

But I know a little bit about traffic and making real sales...and I'm just skeptical.

And again...if there are 30 whales or more running around sending 100 sales a day to different programs on top of all the other sales these programs are making...then why is it that every paysite owner I know is trying to ride out the storm?

Why aren't they flying in to shows in private jets anymore and throwing big sponsored parties? Heck the shows are a cemetery these days, and right here on GFY there are threads everyday with another program shutting down, another guy looking for work who has been let go from a company he worked for for 10 years, and another studio cutting back on production.

Just don't add up.

Not to one program though (allthough we can with a nice push) but to tons of programs. However 10% of all programs we push make up for 90% of our revenue ofcourse.

Our top sponsors receive on average I would say about 15-20 joins a day.

We have tons of programs we only do between 1 and 5 a day and more programs we do a sale every few days.

Not bragging here but if we did "only" 100 sales a day we would not be moving to a new office because our current office doesn't fit the 15 people we have inhouse.

BUT, we to feel the recession and the whole "free" stage we are in (yes we are down some % too). We just don't want to give up and complain all day thinking about the golden years :2 cents:

there are FAR more than most people on this board think. I think the biggest change is that a much larger % of them are mailers and large chat houses then was the case in the past when there were more "site driven" whales.

the good old days are gone. I knew a few personally a while back. Now only one of them is promoting adult, making a bit over 100 sales across 20 or so sponsors.

Oh I get it now. The way he worded it sounded like a review site for tgp's or something.

And we stopped taking submitted galleries back in 2001 and went with all hosted galleries with our own affiliate ids. Our traffic makes us more by keeping it for ourselves rather than taking free or paid submissions.
