Just in case your'e confused ill re-post it for you. I think NetHorse's Socialism comment was referring to the fact that Switzerland is a Federal republic which ensures the availability of social security, health care, housing and general monetary benefits to its citizens. So much so that its apart of the Swiss Federal Constitution under Fundamental Rights, Civil Rights and Social Goals as a county. I think you might be confusing national socialism or social democracies where everything is nationalized. Switzerland is a Direct Democracy with mixed economic freedom that ensures specific rights are promised to its citizens in accordance to the social programs outlined in its Constitution. |
Sounds fair to me... if they would do that here a lot less people would be doing it. Hell in America he would have went to jail for reckless endangerment, lic suspended and a few various fines, car impounded, loss of insurance and a hell of an increased rate.
We would have spend money on courts and jail for someone going that fast and the fines aren't big enough to cover the cost... in Switzerland they take money from the person and life goes on. Anyone that thinks Switzerland is doing it wrong needs to put into a padded room. |
That is way above reasonable, even for someone making millions.

some off you people need to get out more...

And whats to stop economic profiling? A cop sees a BMW 7 series going 8 mph over or a piece of shit doing 15 mph over the limit. Who do you think he's pulling over with this law? The one he can get $50 out of or the one that is going to rake in $1,000+? |
he will pay, when he has money for car like this

B. Read what you wrote.. There going to arrest someone for being an illegal. You mean they're going to actually make an arrest based on someone breaking the law? *gasp* |

Ahhh, the usual suspects at it again. Lovely!
Some of you never miss a chance to publicly show off how clueless you really are. The driver, a 37 year multi-millionaire from SWEDEN was driving his Mercedes AMG on a Swiss autobahn (like interstate roads, but with the difference that autobahn has free speed on some sections, it works remarkably well!). So we have a Swedish citizen, from the country SWEDEN driving his car, down in continental Europe, more specifically in the country SWITZERLAND. He didn't realize that he left that part of autobahn with unlimited speed (probably from going so fast he didn't notice the signs) and instead drove into a part of autobahn with speedlimits. The permanent speed cameras couldn't even measure his speed, because he was going too fast for them to be able to get a read on him. The police had to manually clock him with their handheld laser equipment which put him a bit over 180 MPH. So, we have a citizen from a different country, being cought in another country where he thought/believed that speed was unlimted. Some here have absolutely no clue what they're talking about and should really try to take some reading comprehension class or something, then try to get out more and how about discovering the world, which is actually out there. Or is mummy's basement really that comfy? The almost one million dollar speeding ticket is calculated from the value of the car, and part of the owner's income. You guys should really try to get out more and remember what I said about reading comprehension. Who knows, one day, you just might get it right, once in awhile ? ! |

What a fucked up law it is.
Should be something like X amount of fine, Y days in prison. If you are rich bastard, pay XX amount per day instead of prison. Then it would be almost fairly equal for poor and rich. But this way, $1 million ticket is so fucking stupid. |

So yes, going more than double the speed limit should allow for different levels of fines, possible jail times, community services, and so on - which it also already does in America. I see nothing wrong with a person getting a million dollar fine, that benefiting the community/state, and that person able to go back into society and keep producing wealth. They aren't a criminal, but they should be taught a lesson that slaps them back into this reality without sending them to a paid vacation resort 'jail' for the rich. |

My point was on the absurdity of the law and how it isnt only in place for people going 186mph. |
Make sense to me.
