Any idea how much money rolls into Sturgis during the run?

Well, figure over one million people come in. Most stay for several days. Put it this way, without Bike Week . . . .

Judging by the numbers you posted, they are not counting the surrounding towns.

The Dragnet "Blue Boy" episode is classic...

:1orglaugh - I was just going through this thread and noticed your "Blue Boy" reference. That was probably my favorite episode of Dragnet. I remember using that character (based loosely) in a story I had to write in the 7th or 8th grade.

It was great, kids in my class new of it and wanted to be included in it, so I did. What I will never forget is that when I had to turn it in we had a substitute teacher, younger than our normal teachers. She wasn't sure how she should feel about it.

*edit: Just watched the clip and was reminded of another story. Same year, I am in history class, bored as Ms Haley is lecturing/reading to us. I started doodling and traced my hand with a thumbs down image, then wrote: Live and let live, down with pigs"

Apparently my intense attention was enough to tip off Ms Haley that I was not paying attention to her. She continued to talk, and walk behind me, without my noticing. She saw what I was doing and slammed me in the back of the head with the book she had been reading/carrying, and screamed, "do you think your dad would approve?"

She knew I went home for lunch daily and that my dad would be there and that he would likely kick my ass for it. She told me to bring it home and have him sign it. While I was walking home she called my house so my parents both met me at the door with a "have something to show us?"

They looked at and shrugged it off as I had also received some mail from the Red Guard in China on the same day, so this was much more important. I think she was pissed when I returned to school with a smile.
