The President of the United States should not be using the office as a platform to promote any religion. :2 cents:

camcrybaby,
your emotionally compromised, psuedo dogma-driven rants have been very enjoyable to read. Please continue so I have some entertainment when I get back. :) |

This entire issue is being blown way out of proportion. I am not sure why the president got involved in the first place but regardless of the reason that cannot be undone.
I think its a bit insensitive. 911 is etched deep into most NYers and the country for that matter. Sadly people associate the entire Muslim religion with the attack. With that said being they claim to be a caring peaceful religion why bother putting a center up 2 blocks from ground zero. No other locations available? A little sensitivity on their part would have been nice. I mean all hell breaks loose when the Prophet Muhammad is portrayed in news comics or south park. If you remember the south park issue a Muslim group warned the show’s creators that they could face violence for depicting that holy Islamic prophet. Some would think its a bit hypocritical but you can draw your own conclusions. With that said I believe in the freedom of religion. I also believe in the right to freedom of assembly which will certainly lead to protests during and after the construction of this building. |
Want to know why the rest of the world fucking despises us? It's because of drunken cowboys like this idiot here:
Is that really how the P. of the U.S. should act? I expect this from knuckleheads like Saddam, not our Pres. 8 years of spreading this type of shit, no fucking wonder everyone wants to bomb the fuck out of us. Yeah.... let's go back to this. :1orglaugh |

This country is run by fucking crooks and thieves. By corporations and businessmen only out for their own selfish gain. I do not give a fuck about this country anymore. Why should the citizens care about it when the people who run it do not? You want to be outraged about something? Be outraged about what the fucking crooks who run this country are doing to you, who gives a shit about a fucking mosque?

Not only is he not hated but he is borderline revered, say you are American now and instead of the dirty looks you got two years ago people cheer Obama! Obama! The man is a planetary superstar. Does he deserve this kind of adulation? probably not, but the fact he is admired is indisputable. |

President told Palestinians God also talked to him about Middle East peace http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/...sh372ready.jpg [LINKHOTTED] George Bush believes he is on a mission from God, according to the politician Nabil Shaath. Photograph: Charles Dharapak/AP George Bush has claimed he was on a mission from God when he launched the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, according to a senior Palestinian politician in an interview to be broadcast by the BBC later this month. Mr Bush revealed the extent of his religious fervour when he met a Palestinian delegation during the Israeli-Palestinian summit at the Egpytian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, four months after the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003. One of the delegates, Nabil Shaath, who was Palestinian foreign minister at the time, said: "President Bush said to all of us: 'I am driven with a mission from God'. God would tell me, 'George go and fight these terrorists in Afghanistan'. And I did. And then God would tell me 'George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq'. And I did." Mr Bush went on: "And now, again, I feel God's words coming to me, 'Go get the Palestinians their state and get the Israelis their security, and get peace in the Middle East'. And, by God, I'm gonna do it." Mr Bush, who became a born-again Christian at 40, is one of the most overtly religious leaders to occupy the White House. |

Its not important now just like it wasn't then, the media attention of that story was a flash in the pan and went no where. Lincoln, Reagan, Roosevelt and Truman have all said such things in time of war and parrel about those they oppose. It not like the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were religiously sanctioned military campaigns waged by Christendom upon the citizens of those countries. One of the three founding principles of the county is religion, even people that opposed Bush knew it was a non issue considering all presidents speak openly about Faith.
