there is no other options.

i was just going to post that - i hate when people cut off ears, tails or declaw cats. it's all animal cruelty

This weekend I am bringing him to a ranch where there will be tons of people, dogs and horses. He's so social and tame... Hell check how submissive he is in this pic.

Yes, around here the position your dog has assumed is called "Tummy!" and is also a command. Works really well for getting their attention if they get out of hand, as they will. One of my big boys can be a real jerk, what with growling, barking, snarling and showing teeth but drops like a puppy at "Tummy!". He's really funny sometimes because he will "Tummy!" but still issue low growls as though he's trying to save face!

When caring for large, powerful, assertive and territorial dogs it is a must to have a couple of commands which break the momentary state of mind and sort of knock the animal out of whatever undesireable mode it has entered in its mind. That boy gonna be a good one!

Sally.

congrats on the cutie!

Thanks Sally, I've started a few commands and rewards key phrase for when he does a regular good deed. So far took 24 hours to get him to ask for the door to poop and pee. Again knocking on wood ;)

I've an American Bully myself.

Not an American Bulldog, but an American Bully (completely different breed).

I agree actually. As much as I prefer the look (alot), i would never do it. I got my pup like that. I believe they were cropped as he was supposed to be a show dog, however he lacked the drive needed

TrainWreckContent 08-20-2010 07:30 PM

cutie dog man!!

jackknoff 08-20-2010 08:18 PM

Right now he's not potty train it's more about me paying real good attention and knowing the signals and take him out. He did walk to the back of the place today which is always the way we go out to do business. And once out well he did business.

Just keep taking him outside, he shouldn't go on the way outside. lol if he does, just got to be patient, say "no!" when he does it and pet him after he goes outside, he'll figure it out. Some learn quicker. Elevator sucks because youre not moving and if he has to go, he just may. Nothing you can do, for that rare accident, bring a small towel if you think your pup would do that.
