Ketel One is ok straight.

Add some cranberry juice to most vodka and they taste the same....

At 2am in the morning most clear alcohol tastes the same to me.

Kettle One is nice. When a Russian suggested a non Russian Wodka to me then I knew it would be good!

Never tried it, want to send me a bottle?

Off the top of my head? I'm a scotch drinker... For Vodka.... Hangar One is really really good.

You're missing my point. I wasn't trying to say you were bragging, or KetelOne is crap. I was saying it's not very "special" in relative terms. It's great Vodka, and it's expensive as hell if you're buying it in a bar. However my point was it's not a very unique vodka in the grand scheme of things. You walk into any liqour store in the country and you can buy a bottle of KettleOne. When people talk about vodka, KettleOne is going to come up. It's a pretty standard quality vodka.

The whole making a thread about it is what I found weird. It'd be like making a thread, -Who's tried Heineken?- .... Every single person who drinks beer regularly, and also those who don't drink beer that much. Heineken is a great beer, it's top shelf in a lot of cases. But I simply found it weird you started a thread about it.

Now.. If you were starting a thread on a Vodka I had to google. Or one I tried once, or only bought one bottle of and it sits in the back for special occasions. Then I'd understand.

:thumbsup

I think most over the age of 15 have tried Ketel One.

Maybe I just drink too much.

I have to agree with this for the most part.

I love the taste of good scotch but there is a distinct difference between brands, years, etc.

The only time I drink Vodka is usually in Las Vegas and this is strictly to limit the pain of the inevitable hangover the next morning. Vodka definitely seems to be easier on the system vs the same amount of dark colored liquor.

when I was a bartender, the owner of KetalOne came in the club, it was in the San Fernando valley. He told me the whole story behind it, how it went from father to son father to son, he was pretty cool, gave us 2 bottles, then bought it back buying drinks for customers......can't give away liquor in the US

CaptainHowdy 08-25-2010 04:41 PM

TurboAngel 08-25-2010 04:53 PM

Ketel One Vodka is distilled from 100% wheat and made at the Nolet Distillery in Schiedam, the Netherlands. It is distilled in copper pot stills, filtered over loose charcoal, and rests in tile lined tanks until ready. Ketel One Vodka is named after the original copper pot still, “Distilleerketel #1” and is handcrafted in small batches. The alcohol content of this spirit is 40% (80 proof). The Nolet Distillery also makes Ketel One Citroen and Ketel 1 Jenever.

Never drank vodka. I suggest you buy a bottle Beerenburg next month.

Has anyone tasted that new 'Devotion' vodka. I hear it has protein in it. Its to be marketed to the fitness crowd. Good idea I guess, but wondering about taste.

Ketel One, Grey Goose... both taste and smell like rubbing alcohol... Stop letting somebody who is selling you the stuff tell you it is good by raising the price!

If you want GREAT vodka... Belvedere or Chopin. Both won't smell like rubbing alcohol. If you cannot smell the difference, you drink way too much vodka! Stop paying a lot and just drink the cheep shit... you won't know the difference!

A cheaper brand with a great ability to mix is Gordon's Vodka. While it does say that on the bottle... this time you can let them tell you since it's the truth.

Anyone try Ciroc? Ignore the whole P. Diddy hip hop factor. It is made from grapes and distilled 5 times and is GOOD.

Belvedere is good too. Luksusowa is real good. I like Grey Goose, I prefer it over Ketel One. Personally I don't think there's anything special about KetelOne.

Gordon's is probably the best tasting cheap vodka that I've ever had. When we make jello shots, that's what we put in 'em :thumbsup

I'd imagine they turned away a lot of customers by using "The Situation" as their spokesperson. I know I won't buy it.

Maybe there's a younger crowd out there that actually thinks he is cool, but I assumed most people were just laughing at him.

And the fact that they are trying to sell it partially on its "health benefits" seems like an oxymoron. Healthy vodka! Ya right!

a favorite when rummaging through hotel mini-bars :winkwink:

i know a guy that works for this newly opened vodka distillery, in Pemberton BC. they won a couple of awards, definitely a different take on Vodka making.
