The USPS isn't "getting cheaper". It's getting more and more expensive.

Companies like Fed Ex were never meant to compete with the Post Office. They are meant to ship packages and important documents including those that must be delivered overnight anywhere in the world.

But I will say that the United States Postal Service is one of the greatest and best things the govt. ever did.

Matter of fact it is a shining example of a project that is the governments responsibility. Postal service, national defense (not invading and occupying other countries), national infrastructure.
Those are the ONLY things govt. should be involved in.
