It is well documented asshole. Look at what your reps are doing now, blocking a small business bill because it closes loopholes for sending jobs overseas. Anything to fuck the working people of the US. But apparently you slept thru your time in economic classes Dweeb U.

Oh please......that's not why they blocked this bill.
Get a clue

12clicks 09-30-2010 08:33 AM

Harry Reid voted no on the bill. Hahaha

Who said they were my betters? I don't hate them hate pointing out a fact. You are correct they are owned by people but the people at the top of the corporation make ~280% more than the people doing the hard work to make them money. While the CEO's pay has grown dramatically the working classes hasn't. I just think that is a little unequitable.

Vendzilla 09-30-2010 08:43 AM

Democrats fucked things up, they have been in power since they took the elections in 06 on the promise of change, they got a President on the promise of hope in 08, here it is the end of 2010, wheres the hope and change?
GOP has no power but to try and stop the bleeding, a balance works better, at least it did in 95 to 2000 when the GOP ran the house and senate and we had a democrat president, but I could be wrong!

You're are 100% correct, but he did so as a procedural vote which allows him to bring it back up whenever he wishes.

Then start your own company.
Thinking that it's the bottom rungers who do the hard work exposes what you actually know about business.

Small business doesn't need 30 billion in loans. The bill is a joke that SHOULD be voted down

Well documented by whom? One link? Are you familiar with correlation and causation? Of course not, you assume the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, and that's it, like a bumbling idiot. Also, kudos on the Dweeb U insult. It's no wonder you're a moron by trade.:1orglaugh

Shit, if the market was based on the actual economy, we'd have gold at $5,000+, and the dow at under 6,000.

I found this to be an interesting article, if anyone cares to take the time to read it, speaking to changes going on in the US now and for the future.

Why is it always the left against the right? Democrats against the Republicans? Poor against the corporations.

All of those are subjective. If you are poor and uneducated you are likely going to want different policies from those that are rich and educated. Each side is merely arguing their own self-interest.

The real issue is corruption. It's not that corporations are bad and evil, it is that we have the occasional evil and corrupt person in power of those corporations. A knife is not good or bad, it is in how it is used.

If we have 25% capitalism, 25% socialism, and 50% corruption then we can't really blame capitalism or socialism because we don't really have either.

Just as there are people that abuse corporations to their benefit at the expense of others, the same can be said of welfare. There are people who don't need welfare but chose to receive it even though they can work just fine.

Realize people are going to spout whatever is in their interest. Let's look at corruption as the source of the problems and not blaming different political groups.

Problem is one side thinks we have a free market the other side thinks we are socialist.

that's actually an interesting line of thought for discussion.

no, it's not that corporations are "evil".

but, you can argue that they are inherently a-moral entities that act like a super-human, with the legal rights of a human, but none of the legal responsibilities of a human.

these characteristics create a virus-like psuedo-entity that always tries to take the resources of ordinary humans, with real legal responsibilities and liability for their actions, and co-opt those resources for it's non-conscious purposes.

that's why corporations, especially the large multi-national corporations, have become a threat to democracy.

not because they are evil, but because they are a-moral super-persons without legal responsibility.

Bill8 09-30-2010 02:14 PM

I thought this was kind of an interesting observation about income distribution...

turns out that statistically we americans think we are living in a swedish style economy, and don't think we are living in the american economy.

anyway, get used to it, income inequality is the new american dream.

http://www.slate.com/id/2268872

Quote:

Norton and Ariely also asked respondents what they thought the ideal distribution of wealth should be, and found, again, little difference among income groups, or between Bush voters and Kerry voters. Most favored a wealth distribution resembling that in ? Sweden! But when you examine Norton and Ariely's method, that particular finding gets a little shaky. They showed respondents three unlabeled pie charts. One depicted utopian equality, with wealth distributed equally among five groups. The second depicted the United States, with wealth distributed very unequally among five groups (one of which gobbled up 85 percent?Norton and Ariely put it at 84 percent, but let's not quibble). The third depicted Sweden, where the top quintile accounts for 35 percent of the nation's wealth. Neither the Swedish pie chart nor the U.S. pie chart was identified by nation. Norton and Ariely were astonished that 47 percent of respondents?remember these were all Americans?chose the pie chart depicting Sweden. But surely most survey-takers, when presented with two extreme options and one that lies in the middle, will instinctively gravitate, like Goldilocks, toward the middle option. More surprising to me was that second place went to Utopia (43 percent). Only 10 percent voted for the pie chart depicting the country the respondents actually live in.

At the end of the day, it's not the governments business to worry about who has how much. It's the governments job to pick up my trash and a few other things.

They have personal guards and servants, best medicine, cars and food when those who are at bottom eat only 3d grade quality noodles and use public transport and hospitals empty on drugs.

NOODLES ARE GOOD.

And traditionally, the poor have always eaten better than the rich.

Of course, that only applies to countries where they, y'know, make real food.

Overload 09-30-2010 04:24 PM

funny thread actually ... the same is happening in germany - NO MATTER WHAT GOVERNMENT rules the country! so, the prob aint libs or reps but POLITICIANS! when will you get it? they sell your asses to pay THEIR outcome - simple as that and no matter which country :2 cents:

The Demon 09-30-2010 06:32 PM

I don't get why people bitch about income inequality. You can call capitalism "greed" but in reality, if someone works his ass off in the right venues, he can make what he wants to make while the person who doesn't work as hard doesn't make as much as the other guy. Income equality is a stupid concept.

My only goal in life is to become super rich.

I don't care if everything around me goes to shit.

Eventually I will be the King of Shitsville!

I will own the biggest house in a ritzy foreclosure-riddled neighborhood.

I will feel safe and secure knowing that everyone else has less than me!

ME! ME! ME!

Classic!
But I do think you are getting a little too political lately. And I'd hardly call rich a 100k a year. You net more at 60k a year.

Watch the short movie called 2081. It will give you a laugh. They handicap the able so that everyone is equal. It's quite comical.

I know we have all been taught that this is true and I think we want to believe it is true. If you work hard, you will be rewarded. Sounds great. But unfortunately we are coming to learn that it is not always so cut and dry...

Yes, people do occasionally fall through the cracks. However, that's more the exception than the rule. Whether people want to realize it or not, they have the ability to do what they want to do in this country, and be successful. The ones that bitch are the ones that need to make excuses and are unable to take personal responsibility for their faults.
