Haha exact same thing I was thinking.. Steve: "So how old is your daughter again?"

LAJ 10-22-2010 09:09 AM

People grow up they move on. I went to my 20th year high school reunion and was blown away at how people changed over the years. The people I thought were some of the biggest dicks turned out to be the most interested in what I'm doing.

Tom_PM 10-22-2010 09:13 AM

I still remember an incident from when I was in 3rd grade and will simply never forget. So I can appreciate what you did there, and commend you for it. I doubt that the person who's dishonesty put me in the blame for something she did will ever reach out to me and apologize, so I'll live vicariously for a moment through your recipient and share her feelings for a moment. So thanks for that.

Good job, Steve -- healing old wounds is vital and too often overlooked.

I'm beginning to get the feeling, CaptainHowdy, that you have a very negative view on most things. :1orglaugh

:1orglaugh...

It's pure false modesty, even as an apology it's sheer self-gloating.

Vick! 10-22-2010 12:05 PM

Damn! I never thought this way.

I know I have bullied some, but I am not feeling like apologizing anyone at this moment.

May be its because I am too young, or because I always counter-bullied and never picked on someone nice and the one who can be easily bullied.

Nice story Steve, thanks for sharing and giving a thought.

pornguy 10-22-2010 12:21 PM

Dude. You screwed her life. She dropped out of school because of you and had 3 kids.. Damn and just a letter to make it all better???

Just kidding. Nice thing you did there.

Shap 10-22-2010 12:28 PM

You know I read the title and thought the whole my name is earl thing. But after reading the exchange I have to say that was pretty amazing. good for you man. You made someone's day and that will come back to you in some way. Hopefully in something positive for your daughter.

st0ned 10-22-2010 12:31 PM

Wow, I gotta say...that is actually pretty cool. It actually kinda makes me want to do the same thing.

Phoenix 10-22-2010 12:38 PM

cool story man...neat that she got to share some emotions at work with her friends...maybe they are all going to be better friends for that as well

marketsmart 10-22-2010 12:48 PM

You don't have to search Facebook. I don't know about the other 6 guys but I'm really sorry about that rape thing, especially now since my balls have this funny cheese-like substance on them. Have you checked with a doctor about your asshole?

SteveLightspeed 10-22-2010 01:11 PM

For the record, I've never watched "My Name is Earl".

CybermedAndy 10-22-2010 01:16 PM

Wow this kinda blows me away.

I was mean to a girl in high school too. Pretty viciously actually, endless taunting. That shit haunts you years later. I still cringe when I think about it.

I ran into the girl years ago and offered a heartfelt apology for everything we put her through. She was gracious and appreciative.

Regardless I still have all sorts of pain associated with how we treated this girl.

CybermedAndy 10-22-2010 01:17 PM

P.S.

Good for you Steve for doing that. Shows you got a soul and conscience.

TeenSluts 10-22-2010 01:30 PM

very kind of you to reach out like that

You should, great sitcom about a guy who finds 'Karma' (or karma finds him) after winning a 100k on a scratch ticket.

Allison 10-22-2010 02:20 PM

This was really touching to see both sides of this and know how much both of you were carrying through these years and how just a simple statement can provide so much healing.

kichi 10-22-2010 02:25 PM

you are obviously not the type to give anonymous donations are you?

EllaBlack 10-22-2010 02:25 PM

Steve,
See, it's true, you are a sweetheart. :)

EllaBlack 10-22-2010 02:26 PM

Actually, we do that all the time. But I thought sharing this story might somehow help other people that bullied/got bullied too.

I grew up to be way better looking than all those bitches and assholes that picked on me :thumbsup

AWWWW!!! I can relate..

we moved to a small hick town full of Nazi's when i was 4 and all I did was get picked on till I was 16. We even had race wars in high school..it was so traumatizing. I recently had some of the kids find me on f/b and wow are they ever fat and ugly lol!

Here's to being beautiful Julie!:thumbsup

Kiwigirl 10-22-2010 02:38 PM

Thanks for sharing Steve.
Now if only some of the people on this board could do the same and learn to play nice instead of being rude, obnoxious and arrogant.

dyna mo 10-22-2010 02:39 PM

this guy is taking action on bullying:

Quote:

Undefeated MMA badass Daniel Puder is laying the blueprints for a nationwide gay-bullying crackdown -- here's how it works: 1) send the dude an email, 2) dude flies to your school, 3) no more bully.
The issue of bullying has clearly made an impact on the former WWE star ... who recently blogged, "There is an issue with our society when gay young kids are getting bullied to the point they are killing themselves."

He adds,"You email me, I'll go fly to your school ... and we'll go talk to the bullies for you."

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you make 500,000 bullies crap their pants at once.

Let me get this straight, you apologized after 35 years because you now have a daughter the same age is when you bullied Tina? .... a bit disingenuous don't you think?

As I said, I wanted to apologize to her at the start of the next school year, but she had moved away. I tried to contact her before, but was only able to locate her after she joined facebook. The 35 year old wound was also mine.

But honestly, my daughter getting picked on at school did make it all more tangible to me. Having children of your own really makes you see lots of things about yourself differently. I think its human nature.

Not trying to bust your balls, but your message reads about YOUR feelings by proxy because of your daughter and not what you did.

Meaning, it would have meant more if you left your daughter out of it..

I see your point, but its hard to sum up 35 years of emotions in just a few lines. I think she got it, and I plan to follow up with her too since she friend'd me on facebook.

GFY crowd sure is hard to please...
