You know, Facebook has brought a few approaches like that to my door as they have grown up and perhaps thought about things that were said to me in school (being the fat kid, etc). Honestly, it isn't that I can't be bothered to hear the apologies as much as I simply don't care any more. It has been 15 years since high school and am a fairly secure adult that doesn't need to dwell on things that were said to be as a kid. So, it is always a shock when those mails come and to be honest, I often just don't reply.

I am finding this more often than not. I was never the bully, and the bullying I did get was very brief and really uneventful. But wow, I knew some pretty intense bullies and have seen them popping up on facebook here and there and almost all of them struggle in their adult lives. What they thought they were going to have and what they got were about as different as night and day.

Steve, that was very big of you and I was so happy to see this thread... just for the simple fact, you were man enough and had enough heart to go and make it right, even if it would have turned out bad, which you knew it may have, you stood up to it and that makes me proud to say I know you. :thumbsup

i've never been able to heal such wounds with just an apology. jut like earl, i have to do something/take action to clean up the wrong and make it right in addition to an apology.

People grow up they move on. I went to my 20th year high school reunion and was blown away at how people changed over the years. The people I thought were some of the biggest dicks turned out to be the most interested in what I'm doing.

I still remember an incident from when I was in 3rd grade and will simply never forget. So I can appreciate what you did there, and commend you for it. I doubt that the person who's dishonesty put me in the blame for something she did will ever reach out to me and apologize, so I'll live vicariously for a moment through your recipient and share her feelings for a moment. So thanks for that.

May be its because I am too young, or because I always counter-bullied and never picked on someone nice and the one who can be easily bullied.

I was mean to a girl in high school too. Pretty viciously actually, endless taunting. That shit haunts you years later. I still cringe when I think about it.

I ran into the girl years ago and offered a heartfelt apology for everything we put her through. She was gracious and appreciative.

Regardless I still have all sorts of pain associated with how we treated this girl.

This was really touching to see both sides of this and know how much both of you were carrying through these years and how just a simple statement can provide so much healing.
