They could make so much more money if they released OS X and brought down the price tag a little bit. I mean fuck the hardware is basically identical now, there is nothing special about Apples anymore aside the logo.

Apple is in business to make money, and they make money by providing good products at good prices.

I bought my first iPhone 2 years ago and since then have purchased a Macbook, 2 x iMac 27", Apple Time Capsule and various other devices and am thrilled with all of them. Their support is also first rate which is just as good as the quality of their products in my opinion.

When one of my network devices died, I was talking to technical support within seconds of completing the phone call. When I went to the apple store to replace the item, a service agent tagged me with her iphone as soon as I walked in the door and within 10 minutes I was called to the Genius bar to discuss the problem.

Talk about fast, efficient and friendly.

Compare this to the shitty world of PC's. It takes hours to get Microsoft on the phone, and if your PC dies you have to hunt around for a part and then worry about compatibility, drivers and other nonsense.

It's too bad that you don't like Apple. You should really give them a second chance. They really earned my business and now loyalty. I spend my computer time working (and playing) instead of banging my head in frustration.

Hopefully soon the iPad will have a camera and FaceTime.

zuffa 11-03-2010 02:07 PM

I have not powered mine up in weeks. That about says it all. It's just not for me.

facetime would be sweet

punker barbie 11-03-2010 02:58 PM

i got it as a birthday present and its like a big iphone. i would have preferred a purse or something and just waited until the second version came out. hate to say it but im not a huge fan.

blazin 11-03-2010 03:13 PM

Use mine everyday... read all my ebooks on there, and of course Angry Birds :)

howardzinn 11-03-2010 03:46 PM

It's awesome. My most frequent uses:
- Viewing share prices and news
- Reading e-books
- Reading comics
- Watching TV on it
- a couple of other random apps

I don't game on it as much as I used to. Great device, I'm looking forward to the next generation with a higher resolution screen.

Rankings 11-04-2010 04:27 AM

perhaps i should have done a poll, seems close to around 40/60 thus far

the worlds most amazing websites are listed in this site - http://www.thefwa.com

Skyfire will read none of them.

Flash would be great on the ipad because of games and videos.... not because of the 'net.

If normal Websites never had flash on them, it would be a huge improvement for the Internet.

Daughter: "So in other words I can't play Club Penguin or any of my other games, huh?"
Silent pause.
Daughter: "Well that's useless."

I kid you not my ten year old kid doesn't even want one because the games she plays the most uses flash, and without flash all it can do is email for her. Oh, email and iTunes.

Smart kid, I have to agree, it's pretty useless without flash.

jgabra62 11-04-2010 04:48 AM

I replaced my laptop with my iPad...I love it.

Babaganoosh 11-04-2010 05:32 AM

The people I know who bought an ipad when they first came out are still using it. I was surprised. Granted none of them are doing what I would call "real" work. They're playing scrabble and checking email.

tranza 11-04-2010 07:08 AM

It's STILL not available down here in Brazil. I can't wait to get it though. :(

Heh, that's funny , seeing how Apple is the very definition of a closed environment. Why should I limit myself to running only what Steve approves?

And don't mention jailbreaking. Why should I have to go through that procedure to run what I want on the hardware I bought?

My Gf's brother got one. I played around with it for like a week but I don't see any long term appeal. Apart from web browsing.

I'd rather get anything running android. The samsung tablet looks good.

Yeah. Microsoft should make Windows only accept Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office. Then claim it's for the "security and stability of the OS".

I'm not exactly an MS fan, but the crap that Apple pulls off amazes me sometimes...

fuzebox 11-04-2010 09:12 AM

I feel crippled with an ipad. For almost all the functionality listed in this thread, my netbook does the job better.

I think devices like the ipad prove how unproductive the average person actually is on a daily basis.

That's the way I see it. It might be convenient for web browsing, but I don't see myself doing anything productive in it.

That's pretty much about it, myself. It's not for PS, or Final Cut Pro.

Porko 11-04-2010 11:15 AM

I used 2 hours. I donīt even remember where I leave.

I think I'm gonna buy the next generation. I do enjoy apple products, but I don't think that buying the 1st gen of any new device is a good idea. I'll let them tweak it, add the new features and buy it for the same price as the 1st gen

LiveDose 11-04-2010 02:10 PM

Love mine and take it everywhere.

Xbiz_Lyla 11-04-2010 02:21 PM

never bought one and don't plan to

Yeah. What she said!
Use mine daily for various things and love it. Plus, Flash has been inherently evil since the 1990's, so it makes me feel happy to watch the majority of the mainstream world move in the direction of HTML5/h.264

This is the most true statement ever written about the ipad. People fuck around with slow interface and lack of keyboard sitting with a ipad or laptop balanced on their belly or laying down in bed while they watch tv and waste their time with bullshit instead of sitting in a proper chair with back support and a real keyboard like they are strapped into a cockpit of a fighter jet and getting things done in an efficient manner.

96ukssob 11-05-2010 10:52 AM

i got one for a gift and actually love it.

Although it looked cool, i would of never bought one, but being given one and actually playing with it, its great. i use it a lot to watch tv shows and movies on while traveling, as well reading some sites and playing some games.

i recently hooked it up to my AV system to be able to watch video through Hulu which is pretty decent quality

Mr. E 01-16-2011 10:17 PM

I bought one on launch day in April and sold it a few months ago in anticipation of the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Bought the Tab and didnt really like it. Not that much larger than my Evo and the current Android wasnt ready for a tablet yet. Ended up buying another iPad :thumbsup

Lester Burnham 01-16-2011 10:20 PM

Love mine. I use it primarily for social networking apps, magazine apps and web surfing. So much easier to surf the web on the coach or in bed without a big ass laptop on my crotch.

Downsides: No flash is almost an unforgivable offense. The email client sucks as well IMHO.

Zorgman 01-17-2011 03:28 AM

The next gen android tabs will be hot. While the ipad next gen will most likely be a hit too.

I had a hard drive die on me in Vegas an hour before my presentation at InterNEXT.

Walked in to Apple Store. Saw Genius within 10 minutes. He worked on my machine for 30 minutes. Managed to get the powerpoint file off the dead drive. I did my presentation. As he swopped over the hard drive. Went back after, new hard drive, machine working fine.

Tell me another hardware manufacturer that would do that!

:)

When the iPad 2 comes out you will all feel like beta testers.. or make that alpha...

Anyone still using their iPhone1 or 2?
