so any business that makes over $250K doesn't get a tax break, aren't those the business's that hire people? Isn't that important to the economy?

Well, no one who was newly elected has taken power yet and this new "stimulus" was known to be coming for awhile now. I agree that for most of the Republicans that were elected it will likely just be politics as usual and they won't do much, but I am very confident that some will. The Paul family alone will be well placed next year to really put the heat on Bernanke et al. Furthermore, attempting to tax our way out of this mess is suicidal.

That's the problem once the overspending has happened and gotten out of control. The damage is done. All that can be done is that they can slow the spending down, because adding more taxes for people to pay for continued overspending is only going to further fuck the people that relative to 3+ years ago are now struggling whether they are rich or not.

I for one make enough money to support myself, but in the past 3 years most of my family has lost their jobs and/or seen their own ventures go to shit, and I'm juggling supporting myself with helping to support them, which all of a sudden makes me struggling despite making a decent amount of money. It's led to having to make difficult decisions on where to cut my own spending, which is what the government really needs to do instead of let this ridiculous "neverending" well continue to flow.

I haven't seen much of Rand Paul, but if his father can instill enough sense into him, maybe having Ron Paul and a Ron Paul Lite in politics will help get the nation closer to making the right decisions for the economy to recover.

You crazed righties aren't even educated enough to know that the TAX HIKE WILL ONLY BE FOR THOSE MAKING ABOVE 250K PER YEAR.

You supposedly "Fiscally Conservative" assholes really want to INCREASE THE DEFICIT BY NEARLY 3 TRILLION DOLLARS by keeping the Bush Tax Cuts???

I hope so though I do worry that if the Fed does start to feel the heat they will intentionally fuck the economy even worse and blame those who are trying to make them accountable and really fix things.

Do you not see how even that can hurt the economy?

Of course not. Everyone should live off of Big Macs and Hot Pockets, drive used Kia's, work 40+ hours a week for a corporation, and give anything in excess of bare essentials to "the collective", right Slutboat?

Of course he doesn't see the error in reinstituting tax on "rich" people that are, like the rest of us, doing horrible right now relative to 3+ years ago. Fuck the rich, they do nothing for their money and hard-working welfare recipients deserve it instead, right Slutboat?

I'm not a righty my friend. The extreme right want to fuck the poor, the extreme left want to fuck the rich (or what they consider to be rich)...I don't want to fuck ANYBODY. Our government needs to stop spending like they have Mary Poppins' purse, and newsflash - extending a tax cut ALREADY IN PLACE is not ADDING TO SPENDING. There should for sure be no more tax cuts, but not extending tax cuts for small business owners may as well be saying to the country "we hear your cry for more jobs...so we're going to fuck the people that could create them. Have a nice day!"

Businesses don't pay as much in taxes as everyone claims. There are enough loopholes to drive a Hummer through (literally) and every accountant worth even $50 per month knows all about them. The effective tax rate for Google is around 2%, legally, thanks to the way laws are setup. Try doing that on a 30k a year income.

I wasn't saying they voted it to pass, I was commenting on the timing by the Federal Reserve.

Wow, Mathews is gone too? Looks like Olbermann's replacement is already selected too...

its personal income not the income of the business and if you look at the breaks until you hit over a mil its not money anyone is getting hired on. Also its demand that makes businesses grow not tax breaks. If you own a pizza business and they raise you taxes but your business increases from 1000 pizzas a week to 3000 pizzas a week. You are hiring people tax break or not and for the past 3 yrs they had the break and there hasnt been no hiring boom.

if your going to hire people because your business has a need. You are going to hire them tax breaks or not.

You do realzie that most busniess do not file PERSONAL taxes. I'm 100% sure that wal-mart is not filing under sole proprietor. of those that do 97% have incomes UNDER $250k. So you rant is a red herring.

Predictions if the repugs get back in:
- War with Iran looking for 'weapons of mass destruction'
- Possibly war with Pakistan
- More hand holding with Saudi tycoons
- The next actor/politician leader they choose will rack up ANOTHER 7 TRILLION in debt like George W did.
- More tax cuts for the rich
- The world 'gives up' on the US
- Removal of more regulations, leading to another GFC, massive oil spills, massive environmental damage
- Religion interferes with govt
- Loss of rationality as religious nutters attack science and intellectuals.
