I would like to drop a check off, Mike. Let me know when you are around and I will blast over.

baddog 11-24-2010 04:06 PM

I went ahead and made a couple donations via Causes on Facebook. So, if you have a FB account, go to http://www.causes.com/causes/161234 - very easy to donate any amount.

H A P P Y
T H A N K S G I V I N G
E V E R Y O N E!!!

I hope you had a pleasant day either surrounded by your loved ones, or at least thinking about them, and all that you have to be thankful for.

I spent my morning at the soup kitchen helping to feed less fortunate people then myself - it's something I do every year to help me remember to keep things in perspective.

When I arrived home, my wife asked me to make a run to the grocery store to pick up an ingredient for our own Thanksgiving dinner. I was truly surprised when I went to my local supermarket in the suburbs, and I saw literally more than a dozen people with signs asking for help, including four members of one family.

These were not people that I regularly see looking for handouts, but instead people that maybe a month or two ago, lost everything.

For many people, these are hard times, even though corporate America is showing record profits.
While as individuals, we can't help everyone, we can provide some charity to others less fortunate than ourselves.

Collectively, we can make a difference. I generally do not make direct handouts of cash to people on the street, since I know that charitable institutions are generally a more efficient way to help more people - although I do buy a supply of warm caps and gloves each year and randomly hand them out to homeless people whom I pass on the street.

I urge each of you on this day of thanksgiving to make a small donation to the Webmaster Toy Run if you read this post.

You will be making a difference in the life of kids that could really use your help.

I think he was referring to my mention about working at a soup kitchen serving meals on Thanksgiving... :)

It's not the only volunteer work that I do, but it is one of the things which I most enjoy doing.

I already made a donation to the Webmaster Toy Run, so here's another bump for the cause, the Claus, and the kids... :thumbsup

Nice to see you guys keeping with this.. I will how ever not be donating to this as we have a local group that needs out help. We also grab up some of the ones that Costco does here and also make sure to give the gas guys and parking guys that we see all the time some cash.

I got the impression he was looking for volunteers to drop presents off or to go shopping . . . based on prior experience.
