I know the odds are slim that something would happen to the flight I am on. but it does and can happen, and it would suck to happen to me or someone i know. I'd opt for playing it as safe as possible. Especially the scanners. big deal you walk through it and don't take off your clothes, you don't touch anything. Who cares. Wait another 50 years when you can buy glasses that allow you to see what the scanners see. I bet 95% of the people here bitching about the TSA workers seeing the screen of the scanners would go buy a pair of glasses.

So some $10 an hour worker, gets to look at 10000s of images like this a day. Oh noes.... god forbid someone gets to see a distorted x-ray type image. Its not like its a full color HD nude image of you as if the person was buck naked for a porn photo shoot.

Like I said i'd opt to walk through that and let someone see the above of me, but more importantly to see the above of everyone else on the plane so I can rest asure that there is no shit on it that isn't suppose to be there. You're worried about a freak accident, the scandal of which will reverberate through the decades when stepping onto the plane is giving you the EXACT SAME LEVELS of radiation of this freak accident. Anyways, if you're afraid of the equivalent radiation to an hour of just walking around in a park just being alive there is an easy solution, get rid of the backscatter ones and keep the millimetre wave ones. Of course no one will understand the difference and still complain about the 'radation.

If you are correct then the only rights I can see that I have given up due to the new TSA requirements are that if I wish to fly I may be scanned or felt up.

Not saying I'm totally comfortable with any of it but if that helps assure the flight will be safer and I won't be a passenger on a plane as those during 9/11 I'm more than happy to give up those rights. If not I have the option to drive, take a train or boat.

As for big brother? Not much I can say.. What information is he collecting? A blurry body scan? Most doctors have better detailed records of their patients that I'm sure the government already has access to.

Criticism is good! But provide information as to what you think should be done instead of just criticizing. If you have no alternative suggestions for your hypothesis then is there really any point in complaining?

It's probably more to do with the fact that should anything else happen at all related to terrorists / planes Obama will be blamed. At least he can say he did something if he lets it go through, can you imagine the right wing nuts screaming if someone blew up a plane and he was against scanners? It wouldn't matter at ALL whether or not the scanner would have stopped it.
