Not really the economy works on spending. Unless expectations change radically and people accept having less in life. Cheap credit made the middle class very unawAre that wages have been flat for a very long time.

nobody is likely to buy a recurring membership with a debit card. well nobody smart, anyway.

lol i can just see them entering the data in their quicken or whatever. "let's see, I have to be sure to account for that 34.95 a month for my Butt Monkeys membership...".

I disagree. I think buying less on credit and saving money gives people the confidence to make new smarter purchases that actually might improve their life. People are still spending on state of the art mobile devices like iphones and androids, but they are buying that useless shit any more including all those home upgrades or furniture they buy on credit and then can't afford to make their home payments.

many people see those things for what they are now... a carrot on a stick.

Not only that, but how the fuck do you check into a hotel? :1orglaugh

Credit cards are great for a consumer -- as long as they are not a means to spending more money than you can afford.

They are getting cell phones. On heavily discounted rates bad example. Spending makes the economy work. Took the class in college saving does nothingfor the economy.

Spending within ones means, yes. Overspending and burying oneself in debt, no... and that is no better illustrated than by the current crisis.

who would have a debit card in lieu of a credit card? if you are not a broke dick dog and pay your balance off, you're a retard if you use a debit card.

first time your account is fraudulently debited and you fight to get the money back all the while your account is negative that amount, you'll wish you used a credit card. :2 cents:

ETA: 50 broke dick debit card users.

i've been using strictly debit (and cash) for 3 years. Not a single problem.

the credit card banks love it when you fear your own money. :2 cents:

exactly and this is nothing compared to what the banks did with credit cards a couple years ago when they went ultra conservative and cut millions of people available balances down to nothing.

Its the lack of people able to use their credit cards to buy/rebill that is hurting this industry more than anything. Whether it is the banks cutting back their limits or the people maxing out their cards because they are using them to pay the bills, or people going bankrupt and losing them... decline of people able to use a valid credit card is killing us. Who said porn is recession proof, oh wait that was Roger, the guy who claims porn also makes more "than Microsoft, Google, Amazon, eBay, Yahoo, Apple and Netflix combined." :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh :1orglaugh

LOL who is the Einstein ? Moron saying people who use debit cards are broke dicks, you got that one backwards dumb ass. If someone makes a "fraudulent" charge on your debit card and it causes your bank account to go negative then YOU ARE a broke dick anyway.

I haven't used a credit card in 10 years. I always use debit cards and have the money come out of my checking account. If someone did a fraudulent charge, 1. it wouldn't touch my balance and 2 the bank would have that shit fixed by the end of the day.

I have not paid for an airline ticket in years thanks to my credit card. I pay balance in full every month. Not using a credit card is stupid.

it can be run as a credit card but the money still comes out of your checking account.

you can do the same thing with a debit card. I get points all the time via my debit card, I tell them to run it as a credit card, the only difference to me is i sign instead of punching in my pin. It still comes out of my checking account and there is no chance I ever pay interest on that shit like most of you do who use credit cards.

Credit cards in most cases are for people who spend more than they can afford because they either never pay off the balance and get killed on high interest or they tell themselves they will pay off the balance each month but don't always keep up with it, send it in on time, skip a month etc... I will never let the credit card companies rape me at 10% - 30% interest when I can borrow from myself at 0% and If I don't have enough to pay for it then I can live with out it.

Exactly. Anyone who has a credit card and doesn't pay it off in FULL every month is a moron (and shouldn't have one in the first place)

why even use one of you are going to pay it all off every month? you should just pay cash then.

Short-term loan, points and benefits, extra protection, ease of use, improves credit.

Because I get points which I can use towards flights and other things. Using a debit card I get no advantages.

Where do you think that money comes from? Do you honestly think those flights are free?

The money to pay for points programs comes from interest and yearly program fees.

I have two different credit cards on points programs. Both are paid off monthly, no interest. Yearly fees on each are $30. My rewards cover the total $60 by far.

nevertheless czech people work there and their stuff works sometimes very differently than in other countries. and the fees are ridiciously high while the amount of bureaucracy is mindboggling
