4% of deaths worldwide directly attributable to alcohol consumption seems high in a made up sounding way.

similar is with cancer and marijuana - nicotine also doesn't cause cancer itself but we all know how many people get cancer due to heavy cigarette smoking...similar is with marijuana and smoking (i dont know in usa but in many countries they mix it with tobacco). also deaths are not really the only factor to consider - wasted, ruined life (drug abuser & family etc) is far worse.SURe there are much more lives ruined by alcohol but i have seen my share of potheads who ruined their life and their friends by being stoned most of their days. like it or not it ruins lives too.. and before someone jumps one me - i am all for at least decriminalization ,if not legalization, of marijuana... |
Seems quite biased collection of stats, which itself eats the credibility of the "message".

Basically what you said was , people die from smoking therefor they must also die from marijuana even though there is no evidence to suggest this. People die from drinking alcohol , doesnt mean drinking milk has the same risks. Quote:
You can do too much of anything and it will likely be bad for you, the overall point is marijuana isn't high on the list of things that will ruin your life by trying it |
It was very odd for me to have somebody legally deliver it to a house I was staying at in California.

enlighten us please. |
Alcohol is way worse than Marijuana. I think the main reasons being, how much more drunk and destructive people can get then high. If you smoke too much weed and are "too" high people are usually paranoid etc, not a good situation to be driving in for sure, but other than that its not too bad.
Alcohol also lasts way longer than marijuana if you get real drunk for example. There is no reason marijuana should be illegal anymore. Tax it like cigs and alcohol and move on to the next issue. |

interesting stuff, but you'll hear both sides state why marijuana should be and not be legal.
personally, I'm all for legalization. id rather see some teens sit around smoking a blunt then drinking a case of miller light and going for a joy ride in moms minivan :2 cents: |

what a stupid, 100% subjective chart.

I have experienced both first hand as a user and as someone who deals with people doing both. Trust me, the marijuana is a far better choice all the way around. I have yet to see drinking being prescribed as any health benefit, but you see it with marijuana more and more.
Having been raised by a raging drunk, I can tell you this much.. I see absolutely ZERO benefit from drinking whatsoever, it's just bad from the first drink. I used to bet people that were heavy drinkers that I'd come in contact with: WHO the hell drinks like that, one right after another until you can't stand up? I want to see you drink a case of cokes the same way and have zero effects from it. If you can drink a case of cokes that fast and not have any buzz at all, I'll personally buy your next case of beer...... NOT one would take me up on it. lol There are always people that do it with reason, but for the most part, from what I have seen, they don't have any rationality about them at all, it's either none or case after case after case..... why would someone WANT to not be in control like that? I just don't get it. I've yet to ever see someone not being in at least some control while they are stoned.. not one time. lol |

I always believed that the main reason it remains illegal is directly related to the types of people who fight so hard to support it...
