Excerpts: S&P Says 50-50 Chance Of Downgrading US To 'AA' -1
WASHINGTON (MNI) - The following is the first part of excerpts from a report published by Standard & Poor's Thursday with its views on the potential effects of each on the financial services industry, corporate borrowers, structured finance, public finance borrowers, as well as economies and markets around the world from the U.S. debt impasse: In our view, the need for an agreement to raise the debt ceiling before it is breached -- which the government has said would occur on or around Aug. 2 -- remains a major risk to the U.S. economy, in our view. Because we see a real risk that efforts to reduce future deficits may meaningfully miss the targets that Congressional leaders and the White House have discussed, we put the likelihood that we would lower the long-term rating on the U.S. within the next three months and potentially as soon as early August -- by one or more notches, into the 'AA' category -- at about 50-50. http://imarketnews.com/?q=node/34115 |
U.S. AAA Credit Rating Downgraded By Egan-Jones -- Moody’s and S&P May Follow
Egan-Jones Ratings Agency – who called the 2008 financial collapse and lead Moody’s and S&P in putting the U.S on Credit watch – Cut U.S Debt Rating From AAA status over the weekend. The LA Times reported last week that S&P and Moody’s has served the U.S government a reality check. Specifically they have put the U.S credit rating on a “credit watch”, and warned they may cut the AAA credit rating status. http://www.examiner.com/civil-rights...s-p-may-follow |
Egan-Jones Officially Cuts U.S. Credit Rating
Cutting a credit rating is significantly different that placing it on ‘watch’ or ‘under review’. Most readers are likely fully aware that Standard and Poor’s and Moody’s have sent out serious warning signals about the potential downgrade of the United States AAA credit rating. That said, another SEC officially recognized ratings entity has gone one step further and actually lowered Uncle Sam’s standing by one notch. What firm is so bold and brazen to send this volley across Capitol Hill and down Pennsylvania Avenue? Egan-Jones. Unlike the supposed brand name rating agencies which did little to help ordinary investors going into our economic crisis, Egan-Jones’ business model differs markedly from the industry incestuous nature of its counterparts. The resulting lack of inherent conflict allows Egan-Jones to speak freely and boldly. What a novel concept. http://wallstreetpit.com/79665-egan-...-credit-rating |
well, i don't know if the egan-jones ratings impact anything but i will say that the political posturing re: the debt limit has impacted the economy already and if moodys (who is on record stating the debt ceiling is worthless, just remove it) and s&p downgrade our rating as a result, the impact will be off the charts, imo. i was reading about this the other day, when the u.s. came close to defaulting on ~150$ million once, the prime interest rate reacted with a full % point increase. trickle that shit down.........

Havent you all been listening? Everything will be absolutely better because winning for the R's means winning for the job creators, and as we know from history over the past 11 years, when you dont ask people to pay any taxes, you have jobs and prosperity for everyone.
The problem with you worry warts is you've taken your blinders off. Just put them back on and everything is great and smells nice too. |

This is like 2007 all over again. News just keeps getting worse and worse, and stocks keep going up. "Buy on the dip!," everyone keeps yelling. I'm starting a major short position in the S&P. It's going to come down soon and hard.

Now your talking my language. If the world goes to shit guns and ammo will be the new currency. However for the same money spent on these weapons I could buy 10 pistol grip shotguns for $169 each, and how many boxes of 100 shotgun shells from wallmart for $24 a box? My personal stash is 1 AK47, 9mm,380, 7 shotguns. Ammo prolly 1000 rounds for all but the shotguns, I have like 50 boxes of 100 count 12 guage shells. Shotguns will be the king of the world if we have a apocalypse. My two cents lol |
My girlfriend made a comment, and I am starting to think she's right.
Take money out of the bank. If something "goes wrong", money will be good, but only for a little while. If you can't get your money out of the bank, you will have no window to buy food / water / fuel etc. I don't think it will happen, but better safe than sorry. |
time to learn how to sell porn to Japanese or learn how to convert Japanese traffic, it has been told on the news Their economy recovering fast :2 cents:
