Why is Puerto Rico listed as a separate country from USA in the divorce rate column?

potter 12-12-2011 09:39 AM

Pick a country, any country - they'll all have at least nine embarrassing things they're globally #1 for. Make image. Troll GFY.

Well statistics, something I enjoy, can be manipulated in many ways. For instance, Im sure the US and UK show up higher in the crime rates because we have very good police units, therefore more crime figures reported compared to say India, Mexico, China etc...

Because I can't believe a country like the UK with a pop around 60+ million, will have higher crime rates than Russia etc...

And yes, this list doesnt really show what the US contribute to the world, I mean NASA for a start, has greatly improved the tech world, greatly influencing the modern world we have today, yet many ignorant ppl don't understand how they do.

PS not from the US but appreciate when a country does do something well.

Probably going on reported stats.

Bryan G 12-12-2011 09:51 AM

is this per capita or?

CDSmith 12-12-2011 09:56 AM

Mexico #2 for plasic surgery? That surprises me since most of their population lives well below what the rest of N America would consider the poverty line.

For rapes I don't know what surprises me more, that Canada is #3 in the world or that peaceful fun-loving Australia is #4.

Interesting stats. Congrats to the, uh, winner.

Vendzilla 12-12-2011 10:11 AM

I think a lot of this is America has better reporting on crime rates than most, Mexico has the number of plastic surgeries because of US citizens going down there.
I like that it said total crimes, I mean we just have more people, so yes more crimes

Guys on the far side of either thought-train never look hard enough at anything outside of their set beliefs, even if they delude themselves into thinking that they do.

It's not America, it's United States of America.
America is a continent, not a country.

femdomdestiny 12-12-2011 10:48 AM

Ok I see the reason now. The data is from 2006 and does not include most other countries.

In a collective cell membrane any cell larger than the others is called a cancer.
So you know, Ron Paul has the chemo. :)

My opinion on the crime statistics is: Most of it is part of the "War on Drugs" or "War on Citizens" as I call it.

It's the reason we have more "crime" (because we made so many damn things that people enjoy a "crime") and more people in prison than any country in the world.

And we can all feel safer because even right this very second, there are numerous local, state, and federal legislative bodies creating NEW laws. Because the thousands and thousands that they incessantly created for the last couple of hundred years just aren't enough. :(
