What do you consider "detained?"

keysync 01-23-2012 03:27 PM

detained

Keep (someone) in official custody, typically for questioning about a crime or in politically sensitive situations.
Keep (someone) from proceeding; hold back.

I fucking hate the TSA ... more so because they are the first and last thing you see on your vacation and are always grumpy douchebags.

I have a device in my chest and won't go through the xray machines, when I asked for a full pat down in Vegas last week, the lady looked like she was gonna body slam me for requesting it.

And when airports have varying rules, the TSA people act like all airports operate under the same exact guidelines and that you must be on crack if you believe otherwise.

Experienced similar in Vegas last year. I was yelled at for having shoes on after putting my carry on bag into the xray machine, took off my shoes and jokingly said we don't do this in...more yelling...ok then dumbasses.

The problem is the severe lack of intelligence these robots have - they need to employ people with an above average IQ - then again who in their right mind with any type of intelligence would want to do that job.

Being told you need to go back through a machine because you set off an alarm is not being detained. :2 cents:

MaDalton 01-23-2012 03:55 PM

give someone with an IQ of 50 a uniform and the slightest bit of authority and they go beserk

if you get a chance watch this movie: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0250258/

He asked to go back through the machine. He was not allowed.
He was told that he must take the pat down.

Hence... Detained.

1) How does that make it 'detained?"
2) You think Ron Paul's kids should be treated differently than you? Would that not be profiling?

Sorry Stefan, the original experiment was done with College Students. Doesn't matter the IQ level, what the experiment confirmed in a nutshell, Human Beings suck, and will take advantage of those less fortunate than themselves given the chance.

of course you're right, also people with a higher IQ will fall for this. that makes the TSA so dangerous, it combines that psycholgical effect with low IQ minimum wage fucktards

Do you have Liberal in old english lettering tattooed on your lower back or something?

This shit is not rocket science.
Detained because he was not allowed to proceed with what the fuck he was doing.
And
Yes He's a Senator. By the rule of law he is not to be detained, withheld, or questioned while in route to the capitol or coming from.
That's been the law for over 200 years. It's not exactly news.

How about you stop asking stupid questions and do a little research.

What law are you talking about? Diplomatic immunity?

RyuLion 01-23-2012 04:14 PM

For Google to index:
?The police state in this country is growing out of control. One of the ultimate embodiments of this is the TSA that gropes and grabs our children, our seniors, and our loved ones and neighbors with disabilities. The TSA does all of this while doing nothing to keep us safe.

When was the last time you heard about a hijack attempt? I seem to recall they used to occur pretty frequently.

The constitution. Article 1
Section. 6. The Senators and Representatives shall receive a Compensation for their Services, to be ascertained by Law, and paid out of the Treasury of the United States. They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place.

Why are you so hell bent on detracting from the focus of this thread.

TSA is bullshit. In my opinion.
If you want to suck all their dicks that's your prerogative.

My point is they are detaining a fucking Senator.

Pretty fucking dumb move on their part.
When just last week the let a woman through with a fucking gun...
Tax dollars at work..

Your memory is somewhat fuzzy.... since the TSA applies to the US only, make note of the US flags. :thumbsup

Here's some more "detained" text for you.
“For an hour and a half, they said ‘absolutely, I would have to [accept a pat-down],’” Paul said. “And, because I used my cell phone, they told me I would have to do a full body pat down because you’re not allowed to use your cell phone when you’re being detained.”

CNN is reporting that he was not detained at all
and that he walked out freely
indeed took a plane that day also

So, you think senators should be able to bring guns on aircraft? How was the TSA agent supposed to know who he was or that he was on the way to Washington?

1) He was told he couldn't board his flight and escorted by police to a place he had to stay, aka detained.

2) Paul says no, no citizen should be subjected to this. I say US senators don't hijack planes. Yes, profile the people trying to kill us. No US senator has ever hijacked a plane. Almost all hijackings are by young middle eastern men. To pretend that we aren't aware of that fact is simply stupid.

It doesn't matter what I think
It's the law that the Senator is allowed to do pretty much what ever he wants to do.
The morons in the TSA knew damn well who he was. And if they didn't he as identification.
Again this shit isn't rocket science.

I'm surprised there's no mention of the shoe bomber, the underwear bomber on that wiki page. TSA must have erased it to improve their image.
I dont' keep track of all the fucking idiots that think they can hijack a plane.
It appears that wiki doesn't either.

The White House, as well as baddog may disagree, but I would say that being told not to leave by a TSA agent counts as being "detained."

http://dailycaller.com/2012/01/23/ra...e-the-cubicle/

Quote:

The White House, through spokesman Jay Carney, defended the TSA?s actions during Monday?s press briefing by arguing that Paul wasn?t technically ?detained.?

?Let?s be clear,? Carney said. ?The passenger was not detained. He was escorted out of the area by local law-enforcement.?

But Sen. Paul told TheDC that he certainly felt like he was detained. ?If you?re told you can?t leave, does that count as detention?? Paul asked.

?I tried to leave the cubicle to speak to one of the TSA people and I was barked at: ?Do not leave the cubicle!? So, that, to me sounds like I?m being asked not to leave the cubicle. It sounds a little bit like I?m being detained.?

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/detained

Quote:

Definition of DETAIN

1: to hold or keep in or as if in custody <detained by the police for questioning>
2 obsolete : to keep back (as something due) : withhold
3: to restrain especially from proceeding <was detained by a flat tire>

DAMNMAN 01-23-2012 04:44 PM

I do think the way things are handled by our government in the guise of anti-terrorism have gotten out of control and that we are losing our basic rights on a daily basis. These TSA tactics don't keep anyone any safer. The cockpits of the planes are locked and the terrorists can't use the planes as flying bombs (Guided missiles) anymore. PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

This holiday season I drove to NY instead of flying. My family and I have been driving up there instead of flying ever since they have implemented the TSA NAZI SYSTEM. (Driving is a real pain in the ass, too)
If we were to fly we would definitely opt out of the xray/cancer machines that they use, so there would mos-def be a pat down. I just ain't going for the unconstitutional frisk.
I have a 10 year old boy and I don't want anyone groping him, he has been told his entire life that "No-one is allowed or should touch you in the private areas" What am I supposed to say to him? "Oh, it's ok to let someone grab your junk if he's in uniform." Don't fucking think so!!!
OK, so I get to NY and start hanging out with family, some of which flew in that day from Oklahoma. I explained that didn't want to fly anymore since the US gave the TSA "SUPER NAZI POWERS". They all started laughing at me for being a conspiracy nut and because I drove to NY instead of flying in. They said "if you aint doing nothin' wrong you got nothin' to worry about"

Here's the KICKER!!! >;-)) The family members who flew in from Oklahoma. (Pasty face white folks) Husband, Wife, and 2 daughters. 13 YO girl and a 15 YO girl. Flew out of NY headed back to Oklahoma from JFK airport on January 1st 2012. The 13 year old got strip searched, yep!!!! They made her get buck naked and checked her out real good. It was a female TSA agent and her mom was allowed to be present, but they still strip searched the 13 year old white (not Muslim) girl wearing braces who had never been anywhere or done anything before in her entire life.

Needless to say I laughed at them for laughing at me. >;-))

"Those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither."

Could it be because neither of those originated in the USA, thus, never went through TSA?

MaDalton 01-23-2012 04:45 PM

i loved the story of the pilot who wasnt allowed to bring his personal cutlery on board - as if he didnt have any other ways to hijack himself :1orglaugh
