Are girls really "smarter" than boys?
 

There's this infographic that I came across. It's kind of misleading because it doesn't take into consideration other factors at play. What do YOU think?

I'm sure women's self esteem is the entire reason for gender inequality in the workplace

Men don't have the choice to stay at home and be a supported baby factory.

That depends on the socialist country they live in. In some of them, aside from actually popping the kid out and breastfeeding, the dads can do pretty much everything a woman can, stay at home and raise their kids. :Graucho

Women may indeed be smarter at age 7. Women develop quicker than men. There is also a period where women are a lot of times taller than men. But men end up about 6 inches taller than women on average. Do men also end up smarter than women? Maybe. The amount of male geniuses vs. female geniuses would tend to point to that. There are two other factors holding them back. Women have children and therefore are less likely to choose career paths that are heavily demanding like math and science where time off may be heavily detrimental. Also women learn that they can simply mooch off men using their looks and thus don't develop their intellectual capabilities.

Humans have intelligence in addition to instincts, not instead of instincts. Females have huge burdens imposed on them by nature, or blessed onto them by God or what have you. It's no wonder things change around puberty ages and beyond.

The million dollar question is whether those genes that are unique to men encode for intelligence or stupidity...

corn has far more genes than either men or women, does that make corn smarter than us. ;)

That is not to say that women aren't intelligent, and better in some ways, but this shit of "they are superior in every way" is just as bad as saying men are. Both are ignorant and inaccurate. Both genders have strengths and weaknesses.

Corn doesn't have the same genes as men or women, so that isn't a valid comparison.

Men have the exact same genes as women but have the advantage/disadvantage* of having 86 more.

Anyone who has ever been in an office environment where there are too many women can attest
to the stupidity quotient going through the roof with petty bickering and other hen house behaviour.
For some reason women can take the most unimportant jobs (filing for example) and make wars out of it.

Men tend to think on a more logical level while women tend to think on a more emotional level, so it doesn't surprise me that women typically specialize in biological life sciences. Maybe this is more of a gender role influence, not necessarily cut and dry, one is smarter than the other.

This also reminds me of discussions I've had with my friends before. It's really rare that you meet a woman who is really funny. The only really funny female comedians I know are lesbians.

it so weird you say that. I do medical animation, and whenever I have a meeting with science writers, they're always women. Always, with no exceptions. I haven't seen a guy doing the job yet.

The study is just fucking biased. Most women prefer to be in socially oriented careers than go to jobs where they would be mostly likely be isolated if not alienated from other people.

simple. humans were never made for jobs.

women begin to understand their desire to have a child and the importance of life on the planet and rather pursue that than sit at a job they hate.

jobs and careers are irrelevant and have nothing to do with nature and actually hold us back from progression and keep humans enslaved.

women break those chains easier than working man who usually want that jetski or new truck more than having a family.

family is everything you can take all the clicks and money away.

No one can say women and men are the same - they aren't. BUT saying that doesn't mean any one is better than the other as each sex provides ingredients to become great. A world full of women with no men will survive as much as a men without women. Each one is doomed to fail.

So show all the figures you want - both are as important as buying a $150,000 car but it won't run because it needs a $10 set of keys and $80 in the gas tank.

I saw a quote recently from some police chief in my country regarding women cops that is somewhat related here...
He said that women make GREAT cops - for about 3 years, then they get pregnant and leave. If they come back, they aren't as 'vicious' as they were before.
