Can money really buy happiness?
 

When I make a lot of money I feel much more happy with life in general and it can go on for months. I can only speak for myself but when people say 'Money can't buy happiness' it's complete bullshit.

Let's look at four different scenarios:-

1. Being Given Money
2. Spending Money
3. Winning Money
4. Making Money

money doesn't buy happiness, the same as being poor doesn't. It's such a fucking stupid phrase 'money doesn't buy happiness!' that it actually is one of the few things that infuriates me. You might as well go around saying 'moonshoes don't make your wallpaper fall off!' - it's that fucking dumb.

It's a phrase invented/repeated by people who are more on the side of making money some kind of 'evil' thing that should be avoided, so that they get to have more of it, while the peasants never expect/want/aspire to make real cash lest they get some BS cursed bad luck or some shit.

Dumb fuck statement on so many levels that it's not even a real question imo (that's not a dig at the OP btw, just my stance on this continually asked 'question').

Many of the things you can do with money certainly are fun and make life more interesting.

While happiness comes from inside you ... Money is sure nice to have when a shitty day hits and you want to blow off steam and party.

Anyone who says money = happiness has never had a lot of money.

Sure its great to head off to a different part of the world on a whim, or buy any type of car you want, or have people treat you well because they think you are rich but there lies the problem. You cannot fully trust a single fucking person besides your mom. I can't keep up with the friends I've lost because they couldn't handle the fact that my life had changed and theirs hadn't and backstabbed in one way or another. Same with most family members. If you're single yea just about every woman loves you, but they don't love you, they love your money. If you're married hopefully you have one of the few decent women (and there arent many) otherwise you're in for more hell when her, every one of her friends and family are trying to figure out a way to fuck you out of everything when things go bad. This is why people with a lot of money are distrusting pricks, because people by nature are selfish parasites and are always thinking in the back of their mind how to get theirs from you.

That depends on what makes you "happy".

If it's being loved and surrounded by friends and family, no. Money can complicate that.

If it's materialistic things, hookers, blow, traveling the world, and so forth.... yes.

I think yes, if you equate happiness to peace of mind. But if you equate happiness to lots of expensive possessions and a flash lifestyle, then inevitably no.

money is a tool, nothing more nothing less. You might as well ask if hammers = happiness. It's a non-question.

My girlfriend says yes...In fact she cant get enough.. So now I'm broke and I like to stay that way. Just enough to keep the juices flowing. I like to think of her as the IRS and keep two separate set of books.
