Gamers, will you be buying the next console from Sony or Microsoft ??

Since most of the talk now is about the next machines to be released from both Sony and Microsoft within the next year or so, will you be buying either ?

Just read an article online with all the spec rumours etc, and again it looks like it would be hard to seperate both consoles.

Being a current PS3 owner, i've no doubts i will likely go for the next console from Sony yet again.

I don't play games half as much as i used to, but like many people i think part of the reason is because i'm a bit bored of similar looking games being released every year since 2006 on the same consoles. Hopefully the next gen will once again revive my interest.

Do you still enjoy video games, or will you have no interest in what comes out next ??

DamianJ 01-19-2013 04:57 AM

I've always had every console, because I want some games on one platform, and some on another. But I honestly can't remember the last time I turned one of them on.

I find myself gaming on iOS much more often.

That being said, I'll probably buy the new ones anyway.

CurrentlySober 01-19-2013 05:08 AM

Provided its backwards compatible, I'll be buying the next XBOX...

I dont own, nor have I owned a single console since the 90s - PS1 - But I will throw down my cash fo the 'Next Gen' - Cause that will give me a library both past, present and future, that I FEEL is WORTH buying into...

Harmon 01-19-2013 05:43 AM

Xbox without a doubt, however I am curious as to where you heard that Microsoft is coming out with a new console sometime within "the next year or so..." :2 cents:

Most things i've read have stated they expect it to be out for this Christmas. I'll grab some of the articles just now. Like i say though everything at this stage is mostly just rumours, but everything is pointing to a Xmas release from Microsoft so far...

arock10 01-19-2013 05:54 AM

Well of course

just a punk 01-19-2013 06:19 AM

Definitely will buy one. Probably from m$, but I'm not sure yet.

anexsia 01-19-2013 06:27 AM

I haven't bought a console since Playstation 2....I'm stuck on PC Gaming, I love it.

i heard ps 4 will be out in feb next year

bronco67 01-19-2013 07:30 AM

I'll stick with PS3, because I like their exclusives better. I've played Halo and was never impressed -- although I wish I could have played the Gears of War series.

Dirty F 01-19-2013 07:32 AM

Why spend money on a console if the games will be better on a pc?

AllAboutCams 01-19-2013 08:06 AM

depends i like my xbox and ps3

Because after working for 10 hours at my computer, the last thing I want to do is spend another 3 hours playing a game in the same spot.

The couch, a wireless controller and a 65 inch screen works better for me when it comes to gaming. When you're 10 feet away, the graphics don't look any different -- and how great a game looks plays a small part in how good or bad it is.

This 100%. Other then a few titles like diablo3 it's been as much console as possible otherwise it'd just be like I was still working (or more likely, supposed to be working).

But in theory I could just buy a decent pc with a good graphics card, stick it next to my tv and somehow rig up a controller?

SIK 01-19-2013 09:26 AM

I also have a PS3 for years now and not many games at all (like 30 all together), but the scary part is I only played like.. 3 of them

can't even say I don't have time for gaming, its more that I don't find as much pleasure in it as before :(

kinda makes me sad, I hate being a fucking grownup

Yeah, i understand. I have an xbox too. Just rarely use it but usually if a game is available on both pc and xbox i go for the pc version because of better graphics.

Because I prefer playing on a couch, with a large screen TV and decent dolby digital 5.1 surround played out of the best speakers in my house.

Why play games where you work all day long?

Because if my ass stays on this chair any longer they'll have to send someone to surgically remove me from it...

Swellllll

Killswitch 01-19-2013 10:53 AM

ITT: Someone makes a console gamer thread asking console gamers questions just to get raged on by PC gamers. :disgust

And yes, I'll get the new Xbox.

VamosNicholas 01-19-2013 11:49 AM

Probably not. I bought an 360 a few years back but have never really enjoyed it as much as I have with my older pc games. The last game I played was the Silent Hill HD collection which wasn't very well done. Enjoyed playing it, but compared to the original there were glitches/bugs and bad design changes.

Only game I play now is Dota 2 on my laptop. Lucky me that my 6year old laptop can run it okay..

Raged on?

SmutHammer 01-19-2013 12:18 PM

I will be getting a few of the Xbox's. The new kinect is supposed to be much more advanced than the old one which is lightyears ahead of everything else. I would never buy a Play Station, I don't really consider it a gaming machine. for me It's Xbox or nothing :)

Edit: I just got the new wireless Astro headphones. You guys should check them out! They are well worth the money.

Seth Manson 01-19-2013 12:20 PM

I currently have a wii, 360, and ps3 and don't play any of them. They just sit around collecting dust. I,d rather spend the money on a video card upgrade and continue having a game machine in my computer.

tfs 01-19-2013 12:50 PM

Probably not. I dusted off my PS3 yesterday, let Sony update it, and then I just shut it off again.

I don't have much motivation to play games anymore.

MPGdevil 01-19-2013 01:54 PM

I prefer PC for gaming but own two PS3 consoles where I love to play racing games etc. They are just much better with a controller or wheel and pedals.

Unfortunately many games today are dumbed down and simplified because they have to be playable on a console as well.

My next console will be an Xbox. With MS merging all their platforms this just appeals to me.

Kinect doesn't interest me.

Playstation IS a gaming machine AND a blu-ray player all in one. :-)

2013 01-19-2013 02:58 PM

Waiting on an xbox 360 upgrade

2MuchMark 01-19-2013 03:10 PM

I will be going for the next Xbox as well. The Sony's are nice, but the Xbox is better in my humble opinion.

Then again, you shouldn't base your decision on hardware alone. It's the GAMES that make it fun.

Some Guy 01-19-2013 03:17 PM

I bought a PS3 last year thinking I'd get into video games again but wound up using it mainly for watching Netflix. That being said, my roommate has a 360 but I prefer my PS3. Easier to use, in my humble opinion.

I'll probably pick up a PS4 when it comes out but only if its backwards compatible. I need to start playing some of these PS3 games I have, dammit.

Ross 01-19-2013 07:32 PM

I will buy anything from Sony but I probably won't get the new Xbox, my current xbox hasn't been used more than 20 times since I got it 18 months ago, we only use it for kinect.

Lace 01-19-2013 08:11 PM

Don't think so. I just bought my second Xbox two years ago and just started to really play it recently. My PS3 is used for Bluray/3D and my Wii has sat in my cabinet for years. I've still got an original xbox, ps1 and ps2 in the basement, but they haven't been played in probably 7+ years. No need to go spend another $300+ for yet another new console that will probably just sit on a shelf.

Turf 01-20-2013 03:16 AM

will pick up the one from sony.. had ever station they put out and not going to change.. my crapbox from m$ just died on me so not going back to that one.

GFED 01-20-2013 03:41 AM

The spec leaks for the new XBox were not impressive.

I use my xbox for many diff things. I play black ops II, NetFlix, Hulu +, rent and buy movies to stream. Also I do video kinect with different family members.

I have played Playstation, I just don't like the controllers and set-up of everything. I admit I didn't give it much of a chance to grow on me.

The reason I brought up Kinect is because the technoligy. No other game system can compare. Just another thing that shows Xbox is much more advanced :2 cents:

Si 01-20-2013 08:31 PM

Since the PS1 I've loved Sony, when the Xbox came out, I bought one, then didn't have a ps2 which I regretted. I bought the xbox 360 first, then a Wii then a PS3.

The Wii is the most fun I think, but just not practical all the time, I enjoy xbox and ps3 equally. I can't give up the possibilty of Gran Turismo, Metal Gear solid and I can't give up Forza or GOW or Halo either.

Wii U I will not be buying, next PS and Xbox I will get.
