Euro beef = horsemeat?! Glad to be in USA.

Just reading this article from BBC:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-21059425

Apparently, Irish and British people have been eating beef that is actually 29% horsemeat. Perhaps more disturbing is the regulation that "value beef" must only be (at minimum) 55% beef by law.

Anyone okay with getting served a burger that is 29% horse while being told it is a "beef" burger?

MaDalton 01-20-2013 09:25 PM

horse meat is actually not bad and IMHO the best way to deal with a horse is to eat it anyways...

L-Pink 01-20-2013 09:37 PM

Here in Lexington it would cost more than Kobe beef.

.

directfiesta 01-20-2013 09:39 PM

horse meat is very good , leaner and tastier ...

why is cow meat ok, but not horse meat ... ???

Please dont post things like this. I like hearing from the Euro trash on this board how terrible America is.

baddog 01-20-2013 10:04 PM

I am sure it is all about the mad cow disease. Besides, they overcook it so much it probably does not matter.

I found this article about Canada quite interesting, but was not really on GFY, so not sure if it was mentioned or not. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/canadians-p...--finance.html

Sorry, my bad. I forgot that this is supposed to be a hate USA board.

But here is my reason for not eating horse: because horses are intelligent, and they are pets. I don't eat dog, I don't eat cat, and I sure as fuck don't eat horse. Are you going to next advocate eating dolphin and chimpanzee? Well, fuck that.

And also, I would just have a problem with a company selling me a "beef burger" that is 45% comprised of other meats (without disclosing this information). Even if the other meat were pork and turkey, which I do eat, I want to know what I am actually eating.

Jakke PNG 01-21-2013 12:42 AM

Horsemeat is actually good.
I had an amazing horsemeat carpaccio & tartar steak (mousse actually) a while back.

Absolutely fucking awesome.

Why the fuck not? I don't like horses (except on my plate), atleast in Finland/Russia salami is often made out of horse as well. I also like bunnies on my plate. The cuter the animal, the better it tastes.

I wouldn't eat dog, but I don't blame Koreans for eating them. Good meat probably.

BIGTYMER 01-21-2013 12:53 AM

The problem is they are unknowingly eating it. It wasn't advertised as a cow and horse mix.

Blame the Dutch, and if you're buying 8 burgers for a quid what the fuck do you think is going to be in them.

We get horse meat in Spain, there's special butchers that just sell it, never tried it though.

Yep this
I could eat horse meat but id be mad as hell if i had it and was not told

Jakke PNG 01-21-2013 02:27 AM

Just out of curiosity, have you checked what's in your "meat" products you get from the freezer etc? I bet it says something "Meat - or parts comparable to meat - 75%"
..and unless it specifically says "100% beef", I'll almost guarantee it's some garbage poultry meat-by-products.

Make your own burgers. I'd be upset if I bought FRESH burgermeat and found out it wasn't what I thought it was. (A few months back someone tried selling dyed pork as beef tenderloin.. I bet some that if a muslim bought that, there'd be hell to pay).

brassmonkey 01-21-2013 02:36 AM

don't buy it :helpme if it says "pork flavored chops" :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

I bought some for Christmas and nobody from my family touched it, I just tasted a tiny piece - it was dried horse meat kinda like horse jerky I guess, dark as fuck

bns666 01-21-2013 05:04 AM

Anyone want to sell horse meat then buy my domain http://www.farmbred.com
http://www.premiumnamedomain.com

Struggle4Bucks 01-21-2013 06:58 AM

Horse sounds more expensive then cow...
... anyway... hard to find out exactly what we eat...
They put fucking insects in some kind of cookies...
and they think it's normal not to tell...
Also once wanted to buy grated cheese for the macaroni...
I was reading the packing. It said: "low fat grated" not
"low fat grated cheese"... Nowhere on the packing i could read
that there was actually cheese in it... wtf??? it looked like cheese...
So i searched for some info and it appears that they can make fake cheese
that look like cheese a they sell it like it is cheese.
I was like: damn... that's why Domino's tasts like shit...
they don't put fucking cheese on the pizzas.

i wonder why. in my neighborhood people recycle everything and even have a green bin for compostables. is this common in the US? there are only two of us in our home but we only produce one bag of actual garbage every two weeks. what i do notice a lot of is people throwing away things that could be given to away or reused by someone.

as for the horse meat...if people aren't being told there is horse meat in their hamburger meat, thats bullshit. i don't care if its there but it should be marked as such. i've personally never eaten horse meat but often see it in the ground meat section in quebec grocery stores.

Choopa_Pardo 01-21-2013 08:08 AM

I'd eat a horse burger.

Nicky 01-21-2013 09:42 AM

In Sweden all burger places use 100% Swedish beef from cattle.

wehateporn 01-21-2013 09:44 AM

Sending the burgers I eat for analysis, actually, sometimes it's nicer not to know

The same here. I can't eat pets, horses, dolphins, monkeys and humans. Just because I can't :2 cents:

In my city every home has three containers provided, one green, one recycle and one normal.

I have a house in Indiana and there are two containers provided per household, one for recyclable and one for regular.
