Google Death Penalty?

Site went from pr3 1000+uv a day with some top 10 2 keyword phrases to pr0 35-70 uv a day for mostly long key words 6 - 9 word searches, In the last 3 months and hasnt even come close to recovery. Somedays its gets less than 20 uv :( am i correct in assuming google killed this site during the panda purge and most likely sees it as spammy or bad neighborhood? The reason i ask is the site has 2500 plus wordpress video post and im considering nuking the site and starting over fresh... good idea or no?

You know for a while there I thought that "PBBC" stood for "Pissant BrokeBack Cunts".

Thank you for correcting me on that one.

Looks like it was killed by Penguin for "link spam" (it's not easy to get PR3 without paid links and trade) :2 cents:

mopek1 03-01-2013 05:38 AM

Hard to say what happened. Google is all over the place lately. I got hit 3 months ago too and had no recovery so far. My site isn't spammy either. It's been online for a number of years now. If you read other forums you'll see that lots of people are being nuked and can't figure out why.

Actually, it is pretty easy to get PR3...nowadays you can create a blog and get some quality link trades on Linkspun and get a PR3 easily during the next PR update.

It's impossible to say what the exact cause of your drop is or how to recover without thoroughly looking over your site, your links, your keywords, your competition, etc.

I'll ICQ you now, will be happy to look into your site and see what I can find.
Just don't nuke the site yet, there's a lot of ways to come back from a big drop.

I challenge you to start a blog today and by the next PR update, have it up to a PR3 with links *only* from Linkspun and no links from your own network or any source but Linkspun. And no links faking PR from Linkspun. Legitimate PR3.

I can do the same altho I probably couldn't get a new blog up till next week.

At the most I would estimate I could get a PR1 maybe a PR2, but a PR3 mehhh.

bean-aid 03-01-2013 04:05 PM

Maybe try putting the entire site on a new domain name then 301 redirect it.

I've been hit on some sites and that is what I'm going to try. Can't hurt if you are only getting a few hits a day compared to 1000's before.

HandballJim 03-01-2013 07:34 PM

I got hit big time, and effected all of my forwarded domains. Some of the domains are really good too, in which are great keyword search domains.

A blog with a domain like sexy-hot-japanese-cams-free.com should never rank higher than japanesecams .com :upsidedow

It kind of kills the premium domain market if you can rank higher in search engines with any domain.

Google IS stupid. Embed a video with a ridiculous title, no description or relevant links, and its easy to outrank any site. You can make blog posts with 1,000 words and honest information, but then some asshole will just embed 10,000 Pornhub videos and steal every SEO spot that Manwin or Youtube doesn't already own.

I've deleted almost all my blogs and turned the sites into tube aggregators plastered with stupid Plugrush thumbs. My income has tripled.

Agree, IMO Google is now weighting too much in their Algo on bounce rate. Videos obviously will keep websurfers eyeballs on the page more than text. Google is valuing entertainment over knowledge and information. But our culture might be trending in that direction or is there already. Perhaps Google is just a reflection of that? That their Algo tweak gives Youtube more page views seems a little incestuous since it's a revenue source for Google.

just a punk 03-02-2013 02:39 AM

Everything you said about user activity factor is correct. This is how Panda works. But you shouldn't underestimate the role of another algorithm named Penguin which is in charge for so-called "link spam". A ton of sites was penalized for "non-organic links". E.g. if most of your incoming links have the same text anchor, you are in big trouble.

HandballJim 03-02-2013 07:20 AM

Google's search results sucked in my opinion and I usually use Yahoo. But most people are too stupid to realize this so most still use Google. :2 cents:

You can bring back a site that's been penalized.

Also, don't rely on one source (google) for your traffic :2 cents:

Have you, specifically, managed this with a panda or penguin hit site? I've yet to see a single person say yes *their* site recovered. It's always been 'a gy, my friend, someone on a board' etc. Genuine question as I have yet to encounter a direct source of recovery. If so, what steps did you take?

It depends on the penalty, really. Google has so many penalties besides just panda/penguin. I've only had one site hit, and it got hit on November 19th.... traffic dropped by half. The Nov 19th update is one of those unnamed updates, but it might or might not be related to Panda since there was a panda update 2 days later.

Quote:

Panda #22 — November 21, 2012

After some mixed signals, Google confirmed the 22nd Panda update, which appears to have been data-only. This came on the heels of a larger, but unnamed update around November 19th.
Recovering from a google penalty can take time. Depending on the penalty, 3 months, 6 months, a year, three years, maybe never. Sometimes you just have to leave that site on the back burner and come back to it in 6 months when it starts to recover. Each penalty is different, and the steps you use to recover depend upon which penalty you received.

In my case, I fixed my problems (overoptimized keywords probably) and my google traffic has been recovering although it's only been 3 months. I'm not back up to where I was, but I don't strictly rely on google, either. I'm 75% back to where I was prior the the hit and I'm confident that within the next couple months I'll be back up to where I was before, if not better.

If you can pinpoint the date your traffic dropped, you can google or use the links someone posted earlier and figure out if it's a panda/penguin hit, or if it's something else. My own case was a little weird, I didn't drop any places on the SERPS and I'm still page one for all those keywords (mostly long tail exgf keywords), but the traffic from google dropped. It took a while to figure out what was going on and how to fix it.

BTW I do personally know a few people that have recovered from panda/penguin, I've seen their results, and I know it's possible.

What specifically do you mean by "overoptimized keywords" and how did you fix it?

AdultPornMasta 03-02-2013 07:50 PM

None of you get it, do you?

You are relying on Google instead of doing your own marketing.

If you continue to act in this manner, you will be fucked.

If the Adult Industry is built around Google it has only a short time to live.

livexxx 03-02-2013 07:54 PM

Hmmmm, maybe your content is just like, kinda shit

Kelli58 03-02-2013 08:06 PM

Over optimized means a lot of things but here are a few examples ... (I googled it and found these)

Number one, your titles need to be authentic. They need to sound real. They need to sound like a human being wrote them that was not intending necessarily simply to rank for phrase after phrase.

Number two, manipulative internal links. I see this a lot on side bars, inside of content, where people have taken all of the instances of a particular word or repeated it throughout the side bar or in the footer, those kinds of things, and are pointing with exact match anchors to the same page over and over again.

Number three, cruddy, link filled footers. I see this all the time still. You're just having a bunch of exact anchor links down in here that no one would actually really click and that come in lists.

Number four, text content blocks built primarily for the engines. You know how sometimes you get to a page and there's good content, usable stuff, an image, a call to action, and then weirdly there's this block of junk. It's this block of blah, blah, keyword, keyword, blah, blah, blah, keyword, keyword, blah, blah, blah. Why is that there? Why does that exist? Does that really work? Does that really trick the engines?

Number five, back links from penalty likely sources. So this is one of the toughest ones because it's really hard to control if you've already gotten links from these places. But you can see with those 700,000 Google webmaster tools, pings that they sent everybody that said, hey, it looks like you've done some manipulative linking, and that kind of thing. Be really careful for all of these, link networks, anything that says private link network, or I have a link network and I'll place your site on it, or building up a network of sites that you then interlink to one and other. Come on.

Last one, number six, large amounts of pages that are targeting very similar, kind of modified versions of keywords and keyword intents, with only slight variations, slight variation being the key here. So think: used cars Seattle, used autos Seattle, pre-owned cars Seattle. Why are those three different pages? It sort of feels like keywordy, SEO-y, spam, right, and then there are pointing exact match anchors at all of these. This is the same page. You can target all three of these keywords very nicely on one page that's called Used and Pre-owned Cars/Autos in Seattle. Right, one page, good, you've got it.
