Do Strippers have any rights, do they make any money ?
Just read this
http://money.cnn.com/2013/03/21/news...html?hpt=hp_c2 Wasn't aware of stuff like, paying $200 stage fee per shift, or $25 to dance one song and $60 for a half hour in a private room. Some strippers also have to pay DJs and other overhead costs like rent. I figured they make the money in selling booze. WOW, don't frequent strip club at all, a whole other exploitative world out there:2 cents: |
Sounds similar to a hair salon, etc.
|
all the best to them

A "tip out" is pretty common for strippers. Goes to help pay bartenders and DJ?s. So yea, girls pay to work at these clubs.
|
At most clubs 2-3 girls make crazy money and the rest struggle
|
How is someone making a conscious choice as an adult and agreeing to terms being "exploited"?
|
The ones that run the circuit make a ton. The ones that stay in a city are the cliche' stripper story.

I bet the one's making a fortune aren't complaining anyway... |
You can tell the strippers who make the $, they're nowhere near as fucking annoying as the bitches who don't. The ones who come up to you every 15 mins asking if you are ready for a dance, don't make shit. The ones you have to watch for coming by and grab before someone else does, they make the big $.
|
the house fee is very common... Ive known many a girl here in vegas that acutually left the strip club like 80 in the red
|
I Don't go there very often, but Yes sad but true.
And the later they get in, the higher the price. That's why you can see some 'That-Club's-Superstar' get in at 11:00 PM, go into VIP and get out at 3:00 am, no stage time, just paid VIP room lap dances... That's why you'll see more of the Newbies (New strippers) in the afternoon, because the Club fee is way lower... |
they also get fined for missing a scheduled shift
|
My first wife was a stripper - right outside of Marne Corps Base Camp Lejeune. They were paid hourly then, and she made fucking bank. Usually she would make $500 a night... Doesn't sound impressive but that was twenty years ago and they didn't have any "private rooms" or anything - just table dances and very straight up lap dances.
Oh, the good old days.... |
They pay fees to RENT the equipment so they are an independent contractor. Problem is, when you are an independent contractor you set all of your our rules. The clubs are getting in trouble since they are making rules for them to follow, thus making them employees.....

that's how a strip club looses long time regulars, because they call before and ask if a certain girl will be there, then they show up and spend $60 on beer waiting for her to get there, then they have to go home and jerk off while their ugly wife watches. and the should tip out the bartenders, you think guys tip the bartenders well in strip clubs, they are saving their dollars to make it rain on the girls. and they should tip the DJ, he is a crucial part of hyping them up, I lived with a dj from a strip club here in Windsor for two years, if a girl didn't tip him up front she might get introduced this way "ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together for Sandy, Sandy, Sandy. This little firecracker just got off a bad case of Chlamydia and is guaranteed to give you no more than 4 STD's should you decide to take her private, just a warning though, her vagina smells like turkey stew and that big fucker sitting at the bar is her husband, husband, husband!" DJ'ing at the rippers was a tough gig, the girls were tough on him, they'd make last minute song changes, request stupid marylin manson all the time and he would get in shit for playing it, and i am pretty sure he was paid minimum wage, he also had to collect all the stage fees from the girls before they would go on, and of course they never had the money at the start of their shift, and if they didn't pay, it was on him to make it up. Pretty sure he deserved a tip or two. |

Yeah, a house fee is totally normal here in Vegas. They need to pay to work.
|
Still they make x4 or even more than average wage in my country

It seems like you don't even have to be the hottest girl to make more money. It can help, but if you have a great personality, have fun and connect with the guys you will make more than some smoking hot chick who just dances around looks like she would rather be anywhere but there. |
watch the movie hustle and flow famous line in the strip club... angry stripper says to her pimpin boyfriend...
"nigga i aint even made payout yet!" (to pay the club) |
It generally costs my gf $60-100 just to walk in the door and this doesn't include tipouts. All drinks sold above quota 100% goes to the bartender. 30% of dances and privates to the house.
|
It really just like any other commission based job where you can make a lot of money. There are business expenses.

I used to live at the strip club in my twenties. Now just go occasionally maybe 1-2 times per year cause my buddy owns one. |

When I think about it, it's a good idea. Soo many strippers (and just people in general) will take advantage of anything, the fees force them to hustle or get out of the biz. Probably the only way to get man of them to work. Without it, they'd do 1/2 as much for the same money and the club gets fucked cause people leave.
|
oh God, I watched the video and Oh my God, the greedy bitches in that video want 100% of what they earn? GROW UP. The club costs MONEY, advertising costs money, security costs money etv.
Idiot strippers want to walk in and get 100%, life don't work like that in ANY other business. Pay your fees and work harder. |

I can assure you the only places who charge a stage fee are the high end clubs. The Majority of women make most of their money doing lap dances and bringing clients into the high priced "VIP" rooms.
I know a few strippers and they net the most of their money from regulars who specifically come to see them. |
exploitive? they're independent contractors, little business people. it's no different than a cam site - the cam site owner and strip club owner provide the platform, and most importantly the customers - in return the dancers and cam girls pay a share/fee to the cam site and stripclub owner.
that's how taxi drivers work too - taxi driver pays the taxi company to drive one of the company's licensed cabs. taxi driver keeps his profits, hard working driver makes good money, the lazy one may not make a dime. |
I never really frequented strip clubs, but went to one once that didn't have a dj. It had a jukebox instead, and the strippers had to put money in it to play their songs before they went on.

We ripped on him the rest of that night for it but his face was lit up, he had the night of his life since he doesn't do too well with the ladies, this girl made his entire weekend. |

My GF is one, she leaves an hour before they close because she can. The last hour is all the drunks trying to take the girls home and the worst hour to be there she says lol. They have a tipout which pays the DJ and bouncers I think. It goes by how many girls are working. I know if they are late they pay a fee to the house. If they leave early and if they miss their call to dance and a few other ones I think. Each place is different though of course
